Reading and praying for all who have posted here
Please pray: P the dog now lives down south. I'm told she is very skinny, as her owner doesn't believe in bought dog food and gives her a mix of oats, veg, leftovers and fresh meat scraps. Although undoubtedly healthy, it's obviously not enough calories for P, who is a hunting breed. I love P so much, and I pray that she thrives and brings joy to her owners.

for my extended family, please. various dysfunctional members are in a feud that has become very public on facebook. It's ugly and at least two of them are embarrassing themselves by acting like hysterical children. I'm ducking and covering, but it's painful to watch and even be related to. Plus, there are other innocents involved who I know must be hurting bad. I want to bash heads together but I have to just keep my mouth shut - something I'm not terribly good at!

I'm going on being very up and down; one day enjoying life, the next scared to face the world. One job possibility has emerged, and yesterday I pulled an application together and sent it in. I'm not sure what to think about it. On the plus side it would be a job, which would pay the rent, and there is nothing else around at the moment. On the negative, I don't know if I can stand up in front of a class again, and it would mean moving to a new area just as I am beginning to make friends here (and finally get appropriate counseling support).

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my work's occupational health doctor. I'm terrified because this appointment is because I had an appointment with them in January that they screwed up so badly that I eventually got a letter of apology from them. At the moment I'm so anxious that I don't even know if I can make it to the hospital it's at.
And then on Friday I've got another endoscopy and I'm completely and utterly scared of this. All I want to do is hide under the bed.

For carex's colleague, Lord have mercy.
For comet, for discretion and peacemaking.
For St Everild.
For Enigma.
For Mrs Shrew: hang in there, and do not take any of this personally. You probably were good at that job. *Good work and job outcomes have very little to do with one another.*
For Robert Armin.
For Mad Cat and P the dog. (could you consider reporting this? The dog needs to eat enough!)
And for chive.
For me - I'm very anxious about the finance-monster and my ability to support myself into the future. I need to plan for being completely alone in the world with no partner and no relatives, and I have to do this on a below-average salary with no savings. I called the advice line about AVCs today, and it was an 0800 number that wouldn't connect on any landline so I had to pay for it by calling my mobile and then I waited in a queue for 17 minutes before I was eventually, and very slowly, able to cajole a small bit of meaningless information out of a very coy advisor (it amounts to: I can't support myself into the future). I am frustrated at being in this position after 20 years of working night and day and investing tens of thousands of pounds into remaining employable. I am fed up with the parts of it that are my fault, and I am fed up with the parts of it that are beyond my control. Basically I'm sick of never having any money, even if it's all my fault every bit.
I don't want to paint the wrong picture here - I am very grateful for all the progress I've made over recent years, but I really need a breakthrough both psychologically and quantitavely.
For the Telemum. [ 15. August 2012, 23:03: Message edited by: Telepath ]

Thank you all for your prayers for my elbow. I got the splint off today, and still need your prayers as I work on regaining full mobility. (It hurts! And it makes me go pale & lightheaded, which the doctor said is common with elbows for some reason.) I'm limited in what I can do for the next 6 weeks, but I'm back typing with two hands! TBTG.

MiL (age 87) is in rehab, and continues to make progress. FiL (age 85) is still worrying himself sick, but is reluctantly allowing us to help him. (He is independent to a fault.) She is frail, but the brains of the outfit. He is helpless without her, but won't admit it. They have been married for 65+ years, God bless 'em.
Prayers for Katherine's continued recovery, and that Bill will let us help him.

Robert Armin - the Education Depts of the various State Govts here run what are now called Distance Learning Schools, for pupils unable for one reason or another* to reach a normal school. Lessons are conducted via mail rather than the School of the Air method of radio lessons. The schools pose their own difficulties, but if there is anything similar where you are, that may be a path to explore. Those teaching at them here often had a great deal to offer in educating children, but preferred not to teach in front of classes.
*Usually a remote location, but could include a protracted illness preventing attendance at normal classes, and so forth.

For all, especially Robert.
To add to the above I worked at a Distance Education Centre in the primary department for a almost year and it certainly was different. Much less tiring than face to face teaching. I was on a short term contract but the longer term teachers did have to spend a lot of time writing and reviewing curriculum (I helped with the reviewing and editing) which I didn't find very exciting. I did have face to face contact fortnightly with one of my students who would come in for counselling and to chat about his work. He was sadly out of the mainstream system because of extremely violent behaviour towards other kids. Most of my other students were living overseas or travelling around Australia. A few also had physical or mental health issues or behavioural problems. So it was a real mix of students. In secondary, I think some students were also in juvenile detention and some were teen mums. Overall I really enjoyed the experience but did miss the face to face teaching.
You might also like to do some volunteer tutoring alongside paid tutoring. Although it doesn't earn any money it's very rewarding and confidence boosting. At the program where I volunteer it's also great to meet like minded people from a wide range of backgrounds who really care about disadvantaged kids and helping their community.
On a related note can people please pray for S. She used to come to the programs run by the charity where I volunteer but when she hit her teens she ended up homeless. She was then living in a group home for Aboriginal teens in care, but it was in a suburb quite a distance from where she grew up and she kept running away and hanging out with friends on the streets. She then started getting in trouble with the police and I think she may have spent some time in juvenile detention. She also got into drugs including heroin, which she regretted trying straight away, but I'm not sure if she's still using it or not. She is hanging out with older teens and men and I'm afraid about what she might be doing to get drugs and alcohol.
She is still in contact with C., the woman in charge of the charity and today came along to help set up craft activities for our fun day/kids' church. She's homeless again but C. and her husband are trying to help find her somewhere to live (through the appropriate services) and she is excited about doing some work for the charity. Please pray that she is able to get her life back on track. She has had a very difficult childhood. Please also pray for a suitable home where she is happy to live and will not run away from and that perhaps she can get back into education too, as she left school in her first year of high school, but is quite capable academically.

Reading and praying.
I'm taking a minibus full of teenage refugees away for an outdoor week tomorrow. Long drive and only one driver (me), remote centre, and I've only just started the job so don't know the young people well enough yet to really know how to bring the best out and avoid conflicts. There is another leader who has known them longer.
Prayers much appreciated for safety, energy, peace and FUN for us all.
