Upthread, I asked your prayers for Jim. The diagnosis they seem to have settled on is Invasive Strep A. It seems horrible just writing it. He is still in acute ICU but now with a tracheotomy.

God, hold his family in your arms.

Continuing prayers asked. [Votive]

Many thanks.

I have just sent off an email asking my School to sort out my progression for next year. I would like this to be straightforward and not find that I am in dispute with them. Progression up to this year has been a dark box, I have completed the tasks I was supposed to but heard absolutely nothing back.

It maybe they have decided I am writing up as I am in a position where I am highly likely to submit in the next year, it could be tardiness on their part and it could be that their failure to do something four years ago has come back to bite (I have informally been told it is done and to assume so, but never formally actually been told).

Mr. F., who went to Circuit Rider's church, passed away this morning. He took his own life. He apparently had a terminal illness, of which I was unaware. He wasn't a young man, being older than my grandparents, but it is still a tough situation for his family.

Your prayers are appreciated.

for me please - overwork, overstress, food issues, and an insomnia that I'm sure is related to all of the above. this pattern fits for the last 4 days, with variations: I slept 3 hours last night/morning, worked 12 more, came home, slept 20 minutes, and I'm now wide awake (but punchy and exhausted) at 4:30 am. I may cry.

Praying through the thread. Katherine is still in rehab, and likely will be there for another two weeks. Bill is still being his usual stubborn self.

I also ask your prayers for LadyRev and I, as we have had a recent unexpected expense that we were not prepared for. [Eek!]

For Katherine's healing. For Campbellite and Lady Rev's expenses.

For Golden Key's health and general upholding.

For Sleep to knit comet's ravelled sleeve of care.

For Malin, yay.

For successful endeavours tomorrow, taming of the finance-monster, guidance through an idea.

Praying for health, needed money, guidance and rest for all who need it.

Please continue praying for S. as the news gets worse. It turns out that on top of everything she is also pregnant. Then yesterday she came to our kids program really upset and being followed by a drug dealer who she had spent the night with. She refuses to stay at refuges or homes for teens but instead regularly spends the night on the streets or in the homes of various drug dealers.

Yesterday she came into the centre leaving the man with her outside. He wanted to see her but she didn't want to see him and she couldn't remember what had happened the night before. Thankfully he didn't try to force his way into the centre (lots of kids were arriving for the kids' program at the time) but was quite irrate about S. refusing to talk to him and hung around for ages, coming back again later to still try to see her and claiming she had to see him because she was with him the night before. Thanking God big time that his anger never got out of control or violent. S. was afraid he would punch our staff.

S. was very tired so she had a sleep upstairs during the program but later came down shivering and with severe stomach cramps. She was taken to hospital last night but I haven't heard any more yet. Staff at the charity also took her to the doctors during the week but after ten minutes in the waiting room she got angry with everyone and took off. I'm really praying she has the patience to get the medical attention she needs and also that she would be open to going to drug rehab. Please also pray for her unborn baby.

For Mili's S and her unborn child, and the man who did not threaten violence at Mili's center, may he continue to exercise self-restraint.

And for the person Mary LA knows. My poor cousin would like the same thing and is so devastated by years of alcohol addiction he doesn't know how to start; please uphold him in prayer.

For Comet (if she hasn't replied, does that mean she's sleeping? let's hope).

For everyone in the path of Isaac. New Orleans and Western Louisiana may become its targets.

Malino (2) had a hearing test on Friday and results show he has glue ear in both middle ears making him a little deaf. I had asked for a check as his speech isn't clear despite big efforts from him.

We have to wait 3 months now to be retested before they will take action. Wisdom would be much appreciated in the meantime on reducing his frustration and helping as much as possible with managing his muffled sense of the sound world.

Praying through... [Votive]

Theoretically I'm supposed to close on the sale and take possession of my new house on Tuesday. Right now it looks like that's not gonna happen, and everything's up in the air.

I took a weekend away to try and relax and for some odd reason, it didn't help! [/sarcasm]

I've got my apartment until October 31st, but there's a lot going on in the complex that makes me want to move sooner rather than later.

Prayers for my severely alcoholic friend and Grammatica's cousin as regards sobering up. It would help if I could just say, 'Go off to an AA meeting' but the nearest one is three hours away by car and he lost his drivers' licence last year. [Votive]

[Votive] for little Malino to be able to tolerate his temporary hearing disability without too much frustration

[Votive] for all in the path of Hurricane Isaac

[Votive] for Telepath to have a Successful Thing, to subdue that Finance Monster, and for Telemum and K

[Votive] for Spiffy's house sale to go through smoothly and for a stress-free move

[Votive] plenty of natural sleep or a quick chemical cosh for Comet

[Votive] for my friend Trish dealing with a bad lupus episode, prayers requested

Prayers needed for my father-in-law: he has a blood-clot in his vena cava. He is waiting for surgery up in the northwest US and will be going to hospital in the next state to have an operation on hiss leg. He is in his late 70s and has always been very active. We expect everything to go well.

House closing has been delayed indefinitely thanks to underwriters demanding seller do some minor repairs that came up in the inspection report (that I costed out, it would take me $75 and two hours to complete). The seller is being balky about it because it is, frankly, ridiculous little things like caulking around the tub faucet.

I don't pop in here as often as I should but I've just been reading about a canoeing accident in Scotland in which two young boys and a girl have lost their lives. The boys' father is missing, also presumed dead. I can't imagine what the childrens' mothers and the rest of their families must be going through right now.

Urgent prayer, please, for the Telemum, who is in great pain from (what we think is) bursitis and can't bear for me even to touch her shoulder despite having followed the usual anodyne advice to take NSAIDs. I gave her a cold pack and when I'm done here I'll try applying some ibuprofen gel. Wish I knew what to really do for her.

For Barefoot Friar's Mr F (sorry I missed that before) for his family to be comforted in their loss.

For Mary LA's friend and Grammatica's cousin. (Strange that there's no Skype AA for people in remote areas.)

For Malino, for healing.

For all in the path of Hurricane Isaac.

For a Successful Thing. For me to do an excellent job tomorrow. Oh Finance Monster, do go away, you're boring. For K., for healing. For my heart's desire.

For Spiffy's house sale to go through smoothly and for a stress-free move.

For good sleep for comet.

For healing for Mary LA's Trish.

For Anna B, that is a tough one. Lord, please guide her and please bring peace with justice.

For healing for Sir Kevin-in-Law.

For the family in the canoeing accident in Scotland. Lord have mercy.

Please pray for my daughter H - she lives in Cumbria and rang just now to say that the new local bus route (which has been taken over by Stagecoach) will not be stopping at the place where she works, despite saying earlier that it would. She was emailed this morning by Stagecoach to say this takes effect from Monday. Grrr! This means that (as she doesn't drive) she cannot get to work and will be effectively out of a job next week.

This faffing about with the buses has been going on for ages now; H tried talking to local councillors and the bus people and started a local petition to save the old bus route, which affects not just the locals and workers but tourists getting to the Lake District.

She's going to try for part time work in town, hoping that if she gets something nearby and part time then what she saves on travel will mean she will be able to pay bills etc.

[Votive] fro her and all seeking work.

For PeteC's Jim and Jengie Jon's school progression. Apologies, I don't quite understand how I missed these at the time.

For clear guidance for saysay. I know the feeling and it is awful.

For Niteowl.

For MaryLA's Trish.

For Churchy, for healing.

For Pine Marten's daughter to be able to get to work [Mad]

The Telemum is much less painful and I was able to figure out how to help, so thank you. Healing prayers appreciated.

I have to do a thing tomorrow which is quite pressurised and would be quite embarrassing to get wrong. Please let me not only make no mistakes but actually to hit it out of the park. There are a couple of other people working on it too, and I think they'd appreciate similar prayers for their efforts.

For K.

[Votive] For all here.

I have had similar now for about 5 weeks... I am working, but some days are very hard. Today was the best in a long while. Please pray that the pattern of improvement continues.
Thanks

[Votive] Praying through...

The sellers have stopped faffing about, and stuff should be fixed by tomorrow in time for me to sign on Thursday and get keys on Friday.

At least that's what's they tell me. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm also starting to think that I should have waited to start the medication that mucks with my emotions and moods for the first six weeks I take it until AFTER all this was finished, but now I'm far enough into the course that stopping would be just as bad as barreling forward.

[Votive] guidance and peace for Anna B
[Votive] healing and comfort for ebeth

... two terrific ladies whom I've had the great privilege of meeting IRL.

[Votive] for all who post or pray here.

Thanksgiving for increased focus at w*rk; cranked out a dynamite document (if I dare say), with two additional healthy first drafts. Whew!

Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.

We think redundancies will be announced today at Mr.M's work. Despite them only employing him 3 weeks ago he is in the pot.

My part time job only pays for childcare so without his salary we have nothing to live on.

Would really like this uncertain time to be over and for him to still have this new job we were so delighted to get!
