Prayers for us at St. Spike's, please, as we enter the last phase of our transition; our much-beloved interim did his last Sunday service with us this past weekend, will do All Souls on Thursday night, and our new rector (not rector-elect any more as she is on the payroll as of today!) does next Sunday.

We had an excellent last service and sendoff party this past week and I finally got a chance to process, and, yes, mourn for myself. Too damn busy dealing with running major events and Other Peoples' Drama.

[Votive] For all

[Votive] For the many who are suffering due to this monstrous hurricane, not only here in the U.S., but also parts of Canada and also that we don't forget those who have undergone major suffering in the Caribbean including poor battered Haiti

[Votive] For my friend D who has family troubles which, among other things, has caused him to lose work time, and especially for his father who was one of those who got meningitis from tainted drugs and who seems to be recovering but who is still in the hospital after 2 weeks. And for those in D's family who are in New Jersey (fortunately not near the coast)

[Votive] For me as I have some scans today (Wed.) and Fri., prior to starting a clinical trial drug. May the scans find no more than the 3 spots of melanoma already in my lung (if not fewer!) -- and especially that my liver and brain remain clear -- and that the trial drug will be successful (and any unpleasant effects be minimal). Since my diagnosis a year ago I have not felt one single iota of illness from it up to now. As i noted in the Thanks and Praise thread, this (metastatic melanoma) is something that, not very long ago, most often meant a life expectancy of a year or often much less from the time of diagnosis. God is so good -- I have been so incredibly blessed.

This popped into my mailbox this morning:

Lord, we pray for all affected by Hurricane Sandy:
For those bereaved or physically harmed we pray for your comfort;
for those left homeless and in shelters we pray for your provision;
for those involved in the clean up and rescue we pray for your strength.
Just as you once spoke peace into the storm, please speak peace
into this situation and the lives of all caught up in it.
In your mercy and grace.
Amen

Got my mother in to see her doc on Tuesday and as soon as the doc realized what was happening my mother was admitted to the hospital for a battery of tests which are still ongoing. It has been confirmed that she has had a stroke, but they want to know why and to be able to prevent a second stroke they fear is coming. I would appreciate your continuing prayers. They are being answered as she is finally getting the care she needs and they are working to prevent a worse event.

I would also appreciate prayers for my aunt, my mothers sister, who also had a health crisis over this past weekend and is ICU. Neither one knows about the other at this point.

Am reading and praying for all and especially for the victims of Sandy.

fire put out - 4 structures involved, luckily everyone accounted for. Downtown businesses. my sons' best buddies lived right behind and the boys are now sleeping in my house as their parents try to figure out whether they can save their business. I'm home and chilled to the bone and SO THANKFUL no one was hurt.

Chasee#1, by the way, was the hero of the night. she made the initial call, got everyone out of the area buildings, kept the crowd away, and led the fire crews to the right spot. I'm very very proud of my kid tonight.

Many thanks for the prayers this past week. My mother is slowly improving and the care she has had this past week has been wonderful. She will be needing to relearn some things, though praise God there was no major physical damage. Please continue in prayer for her as she continues to work through her recovery and for me as caregiver who also has major health issues. Please pray also for my mother's sister who is still in critical condition in ICU.

My prayers continue for all needs spoken here, for all in need in the aftermath of Sandy.

Amen.

I cannot expect people to believe “
Jesus loves me, this I know” of they don’t believe “Kelly loves me, this I know.”

For wisdom, tact and goodwill for all members of chive's family.

For Cottontail's friend, for healing.

For Niteowl's mother, for healing. Also for healing of her mother's sister.

For Welease Woderwick.

For a private intention.

For continued banishment of the finance-monster.

For the Telemum.

Please pray for my mother - she is having a tough time with side effects at the moment (what is the point in being pain-free if she feels so ill, all she can do is lie on the sofa?) and it has now been confirmed that she has gout but she is distinctly against the idea of taking any more pills. She is due to see the doctor on Tuesday, so please pray that he will come up with a solution for her.
