Admittedly, if you aren't aware of Guy Fiery and his celebration of slicked proteins this won't be quite as laugh-inducing, but it's great satire all the same.

Apparently Guy Fieri's real restaurant didn't lock down the .com domain name, and this awesomeness ensued: guysamericankitchenandbar.com

ETA: basic readability, like the use of more complete and punctuated sentences. [Paranoid]

I have to admit that I have made at least on of Mr. Fieri's recipes in my life, and it wasn't bad. It doesn't mean that I will be hitting his restaurant any time soon. The Food Network has a way of making people who are actually not bad cooks turn into horrible caricatures of themselves. See also Rachel Ray, whose recipes are generally pretty good, and who gets props for doing her own prep work on screen, but who turned into the catch-phrase spewing idiot we all love to hate a few seasons into "30 Minute Meals."

I looked at the real menu, and it doesn't look that different from a Chili's menu. My tip to people visiting NYC, if the restaurant is described as "right in the heart of Times Square," run far and fast. If you happen to stop by St. Mary the Virgin, get out of noon mass, and are so hungry that you cannot possibly stand even the three block walk East to Little Brazil, the Cuban dinar across the street makes an amazing Cuban sandwich. But for the most part, Times Square is not the place for dinner, unless dinner at an alien-invasion themed restaurant is your idea of fine dining.

Og - don't tell me Mars 2112 is still there?

Our first ever meal on US soil. Everywhere from there was up...! (And Katz's Deli with Shipmates was great.)

Triple D and Man v Food are guilty pleasures for me. The Food Network is only recently available on Freeview in the UK so it is a bit of a 'niche' thing at the moment.

Cupcake Wars, now there's a weird programme for you. Contestants are asked to make cupcakes out of things like hot dogs and pickle...

Apparently it closed recently. I never ate there, but a roommate of mine almost did after a friend gave it rave reviews.

Now that I think about it, there was one restaurant I used to go to right in Times Square that I really liked- a Belgian fry stand that served cones of fries with your choice of ten different kinds of mayonnaise. The ultimate late night snack.

I see (I think) a US dialect of ChefSpeak - which is a source of amusement to those of us who watch Food Porn (Masterchef, Great British Menu, Nigella, Nigel, Jamie, Delia etc).

There's food, and then there's restaurant and Cookery programme food.

Me, I'll have the marinated pan-seared antelope gizzards nestling on a bed of crispy fried samphire with an avocado jus.

I love Man V Food - even if it's on Dave all the time.

There is of course the Masterchef drinking game...

Talk about back of the fridge...

I'm not sure this isn't past its use-by date. I'll consult with the other cooks.

So many variations on that game. The best one is turn the telly off and just get pissed.
Sorry, not much on the fake drama and ridiculous challenges of some of the food shows.
I like Guy Fiery. He is just so nice. That is why I,...wait, Nigella's programme is about food?!? Sillies, next you'll be telling me Giada is a chef as well.
ETA: response to Alex' post.
Though the first line might be more amusing as a response to Firenze...

Best thing for the bloody things. The cupcake craze was a seven-day wonder that swamped the worthy world of confectionary with the equivalent of some Britain's Got Talent runner-up.

Actually, hot dogs and pickle make sense. Apple crumble and pickle - now that ought to destroy cupcakes.
