My my, a bit of silly banter by a 19 year-old and that's enough to tar a person and a whole nation for ever. Personally, being English, I've got more contempt for the loony middle-class thatcherite nutters running the country, than a Scotsman who's just made sporting history

I hate the scotch, they hate us. But Britain is 3 celtic countries run by one better country in order to ensure the 3 celtic countries are not royally fucked over by England like they have been for the last few millenia, and they want to throw it away the ungrateful wankers.
They've never been any use unless sucking at Englands tit, so fuck them, fuck Murray, fuck every jock everywhere. If they want independance, all it means is that we don't have to worry about shafting them.
Can I just say I'm in awe of this post. In actual awe.
It's not the racism. As with all racists, Deano hates something that doesn't exist, a dragon of his own imagination. He also conveniently overlooks all the celtic bits of Englandshire.
It's this use of poor Princess Kate and her reproductive organ. And also, a BOY?? Does a girl baby just not cut it? You now we don't do that whole dowry thing here??
Anyway Deano, console yourself. If you're a real Englishman, you're probably mostly French. And German. And Dane. And Celt.

So the #2 player in the tennis world beats the #1 player, and the world comes to an end?
Seriously. As I've often heard preached to me, any team can beat another team on a given day and time. (Well, assuming that they play in the same league and at the same level.) It's also known as shit happens.
Andy is the #2 player in the world, and has been for awhile. If he couldn't beat the #1 player given the right day, then he shouldn't have ever been ranked that high.

He certainly was not better than Delpo. That was an extraordinary match. The final was great, but nowhere near as good. Perhaps Djoka wasn't as good as he had been in the previous round, but this takes nothing away from Muz, who played superbly and deserved his win. Have the rest of you considered that perhaps if we all ignore deano at once, he/she may just fuck off and die?

I agree. Djokovic had a very bad day, and unfortunately for him it coincided with it Murray having a good day. It's not like Murray didn't deserve it because of that, because Djokovic on a bad day is still a fair challenge.

I didn't watch the match, I have no interest in tennis. I went for a walk in the sunshine - plenty of others were doing the same.
I'm sure he deserved to win and to enjoy the moment and accolades.
But the media hype today is driving me maaaad! I've switched the radio off in favour of CDs - which is very rare for me.

Meh. Don't give a shit about tennis, or nationalism, wasn't watching, am English but don't hate the Scots - I identify as British rather than English anyway. And for all that, I'm quite pleased he won, simply because so many people in Britain wanted it so badly and it made them all happy and I like having happy people about.
But anyone who can go around screaming that they hate all Scots because one Scot is "racist" enough to have once expressed an anti-English opinion (which didn't even amount to hate anyway) is either trolling or too stupid to see the irony there. Or possibly both.
ETA: I kinda understand the "Anyone but England" attitude with regard to football. The English are so fucking insufferable about football that I often feel the same way. We're still drivelling on about 1966 and every time the world cup comes around I'm always relieved when we're knocked out because there's less drunkenness and shouting, people show up for work, the newspapers bother to cover other stories and everyone shuts up about how this year is going to be our year. I don't hate England, the English or indeed my own Englishness, but I do hate the relationship between England and football. [ 08. July 2013, 09:38: Message edited by: Liopleurodon ]

I'm English and I find the Scottish idea of supporting anyone but the English at football as very funny. Just the same way as I find it very funny that large numbers of people in rural Buckinghamshire pretend that Milton Keynes doesn't exist. Why it stresses people out, I really don't understand.
But then I do have a son who lives in Scotland - and has to police the buggers.

That is particularly unfair on the Tories (not, I hasten to add, that I particularly like most Tory policy).
deano may think of himself as a Tory. But, in reality he's an arsewipe. All the crap that the Tory's produce distilled into one little package of bigotry, hate, idiocy, ignorance and simple shite. Something that deserves nothing more than to be flushed down the toilet where it can rot with the rest of the filth.

He's not unlike the ones I went to school with who are the main reason I'd never, ever, like short of gunpoint, vote for them.
Their actions in office have not disabused me of my instincts about them, I'm afraid. Somehow they appear to be managing to shaft exactly the same people that they all despised when I knew them as a lad. Which puts 'em pretty much in the category Alan defined for Deano. Deano's a caricature, to be sure, but like all caricatures he's based on a exaggeration of real features.
