Ok, I didn't get the last boat job I applied for, they really liked me, they said I was a "very close second", but they gave it to someone with a bit more experience. Thanks for praying, and for the PMs and messages too, I didn't reply to all of them, because I'm crap, but thank you, I really appreciated them all.

Anyway, I've applied for another one on another ship, one I'd love to sail on. I've just sent the form and my CV off. Oh please please please. I so need a job, both because I need the money and for my own sanity (heh, see the Black Dog thread in hell recently), and while all the other CVs and applications I've sent off have come to nothing, this one's another one I'd really love to get. Really really. Please would you mind praying that this time, this one...
Help.

My friends are too busy to see me, and have been for months. This is the second time this year I've tried to arrange a big and expensive party for them, but people still don't have time. I don't know what I have to do to make it worth people's while to spend time with me. I'm sitting here crying over it and if anybody gets a whiff of this attitude from me, they'll probably block me on Facebook or something for being too needy. And I'm not even ON Facebook.

I'm going to a meetup tonight and I'm not looking forward to it. Like if I do make some friends, I'll just be adding to the list of people who don't have time for me.

I mean I don't have time either, which is also driving me crazy. Just by going to this meetup, I'm spending money I don't have and giving my real obligations short shrift.

Sometimes I wonder why it's so hard. [brick wall]

--For everyone affected by a dreadful situation that happened in Washington, DC today. I don't have much info yet, but evidently a woman (with her child in the car) tried to ram her way through a gate on Capitol Hill. She couldn't get through. She was chased, shot, and killed. The child is physically uninjured. A cop and a Secret Service agent were both injured. Nothing has been said about motive, except that they don't think it was terrorism.

I can't help wondering if she was a troubled person who was affected by the gov't shutdown or the earlier sequester cuts, and finally went over the edge.

Thanks!

Be it as it may: Wesley J will stay. --- Euthanasia, that sounds good. An alpine neutral neighbourhood. Then back to Britain, all dressed in wood. Things were gonna get worse. (John Cooper Clarke)

Prayers offered here this afternoon for all, by name. [Votive]

May I ask your prayers for J and her husband M, and for their three children, facing further hardship in the face of M's addiction & likely unemployment - that we who are their friends might be given the grace of knowing what best to do to help, and the courage to bear with both of them if there's nothing practical we can offer except to pray.

And please pray for me, as I continue to fight depression and try to be the best husband and dad I can be.
