I miss the limerick and haiku threads...(though I seem to have more time to do other things now they are defunct...funny, that).

I propose a new poetry game--if it has already been played, maybe some longer-serving shipmate will let me know.
(I did search "cinquains" with no result.)

Write a cinquain, a five-line poem, based on syllable count.

Pattern as follows:

2
4
6
8
2

BUT--let's add rhyme:

a
b
c
b
a

Thus:

a First, two;
b second line, four;
c the third line uses six,
b the fourth, eight; leaving one line more.
a Now, you.

As in our previous poem threads, each poster writes a cinquain and then suggests the next topic:

vegetable soup

Have at it!

Broth, sir?
Strain that veggie!
Out they go! Be quick, now!
What to use? Oh, don't be edgy:
Cloth, sir!

What a great start, Amanda B!

I hope someone else comes to play....

in the meantime:

Incense,
go over there,
crucifer, please turn right;
chorister bottleneck? I swear,
you're dense!

Love it, WW!

(Hope I may be forgiven for bumping this up, in case there are people who'd like to play and haven't noticed it yet.)

Salad,
or soup, maybe,
on winter days for warmth.
Followed by a nice cup of tea.
Not bad.

Fragile, but relentless

Melts with a slight breath. Defenseless
yet old.
