DP got a phone call from her nurse-practitioner yesterday, requesting a call-back. It didn't sound serious; in fact, DP had gotten some x-rays for an arthritic foot a couple of weeks ago and assumed the phone call was regarding that. When DP called this morning, though, her nurse-practitioner said that the radiologist studying DP's recent mammogram noticed some nodules that he wants watched for the next six months. The NP said that she was calling just as a heads-up, so that DP wouldn't be surprised or overly alarmed when her written results came in the mail.

I'm trying to curb my anxiety here...we have a friend who recently was diagnosed with breast cancer after a mammogram turned up something questionable and she wound up having a mastectomy within just a couple of weeks of the discovery; so I'm thinking that if the doctor had been more concerned about what he found on the film he'd have DP in for a biopsy/other tests immediately.

But the call still rattled me terribly. And while DP is keeping calm about it -- as she notes, she's had so many life-threatening medical conditions over the years and survived them she's not going to get upset about this new thing unless/until she has to -- obviously this isn't the kind of phone call one wants to get on a sunny Friday morning. A little while later she said, "I'm really tired...I'm taking a nap," which tends to be her body's first line of defense when she's stressed about something; she just can't stay awake and has to sleep for awhile.

Thanks for your prayers, everyone...more than anything, for some calm and a sense of perspective on our parts, and for skill/guidance on the part of the healthcare professionals following up on the findings.

Oh Lamb Chapped...prayers and heaps of 'em

Could I ask for prayer as I travel this weekend to find out what exactly has happened to my aged relative?
Think it's a case of " I'll cope thank you very much indeed" ....only available relatives are thin on the ground and friends are equally infirm. I ask for tact and warmth from me please.

Littler Miss M has actually had a week at home from hospital. Well sort of. Week was punctuated by three clinic visits for various tests and injections and by a general anaesthetic on another day for the fifth bone marrow biopsy. Doctors are happy with the numbers showing in tests. A different chemo drug is started this week after the first initial drug.

Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers. [Votive]

I have to speak to a member of staff today about an outburst in the office on Friday (no, it's a different member of the team!) He had a mini-meltdown about having to carry out a particular task, even though it was always the plan for him to do this. I was on the phone to a contractor at the time and, by the time my call had ended, his shift had finished.

I feel as if I'm drowning. We are all extremely busy with extra project work and these continual episodes are more than I can cope with. I feel like a rubbish manager: my team isn't a team any more, it's just a group of individuals pulling in different directions. We've been too busy for too long and it shows no sign of stopping.

This person who had the outburst is my friend outside work - allegedly. Friends don't do this to each other.

Thanks Gee D -- I'm glad to be back! All is MORE than reasonably well. The 2 different kinds of malignancies within remain small and stable and I feel physically great (though I could use a bit more exercising [Biased] ). Next Tuesday I get the results of last weeks scans to see how it's going.

I haven't been visiting the ship much because of my current activities and routine. But if i'm not visiting the other boards much I don't want to lose touch with this thread.

Prayers for everyone and everyone they care about.

Prayers for all in the SE US in the midst of the winter storm. Especially those cold without heat and power. I give thanks that I still have light and heat. Tonight could get worse so prayers for all facing this.

Starting as I write this, according to local TV news, the most critical part of the current winter storm has just arrived in Atlanta. The big issue is liquid rain freezing on contact with the frozen ground, power lines and trees, especially such as softwood pines which break more easily as the ice builds up. So many hundreds of thousands of people in the metro Atlanta area may lose power (and, even more importantly HEAT, if the homes are all-electric such as mine). The freezing rain is forecast to continue until around sunrise tomorrow morning. The damage to the power grid could be sufficiently extensive that it could take over a week for some to get their power back. (On TV someone just said the situation is gradually getting worse.)

So, my prayers to the God of Love who holds all creation in hand, are that the actuality proves less bad than forecast. My prayers are for all who may be stuck in homes for days without heat, especially the very young, old, or in poor health. I'm praying for animals carelessly left outside or even worse, left chained outside. Prayers certainly for the people who must be outside, especially the workers repairing the damages, and medical emergency people.

[Votive] for all who need prayers, especially those in the southern US facing winter storms that they haven't got the infrastructure to cope with, and those back home in the UK battling floods and their aftermath.
