I'd appreciate prayers as I go in for a hiatal hernia repair tomorrow. It is an endoscopic oupatient procedure that takes about an hour; but with my medical history of seizures and bad reaction to anesthetics they're using a special valium + novocaine anessthesia combo and also keeping me in hospital overnight just to be on the safe side, I'm anxious , but also quite ready to be over the strangling sensations lightheadedness and other issues that have kept me fairly inactive all summer. Prayers also for E2, my dear partner, who recently fell in our garage and broke her thumb and arm. She's in real pain, worried about possible thumb surgery ( she has a reconstructed thumb joint and dislocated a pin...it may be okay in the long run but may need surgery). Sometimes I feel we have dueling health problems in our housebold. To add to this, we're betwween churchs, ourcintended new one in flux without a pastor at the momentg, d feel a bit lost as to baving a supportive faith community...I feel as if we're oprating without a net. All prayers and good wishes appreciated.

a small request, in the grand scheme of things, but it's weighing on my mind, anyway.
for the first time in something like 6 years, I'm moderating a candidate forum tonight. This is something I used to do fairly regularly. I was always good at it. But aside from being rusty, this one has been fraught with trouble. I was never given the whole story (sponsored by a partisan group, for one thing. I was not told that until thursday!) and my name was used in the promotions before I had agreed to do it. The right thing to do would have been to tell them to eff off, but it would be leaving them hanging last minute, so I agreed. I am wary, though, of the whole situation and feel as though I've been lied to and manipulated to put me into this spot.
the liar/manipulator is one person on a board of directors. The other board members were not aware of this game-playing and thought I had agreed to everything with full info. but the liar/manipulator has conveniently left town so if I'd bailed, I would have screwed over a bunch of people who have not done harm.
All that being said, I can totally do it and do a good job. But I'm left feeling like there will be other little surprises before this thing is over. And it feels like my name is being used to shore up the agenda of this partisan group.
I have this horrible feeling that I'll be paying for getting wrangled into this for a lot longer than just tonight.
and then there's just the performance anxiety and feeling a bit ill-prepared.
so.... can I request prayers that it go smoothly, and that I not inadvertently do something to make things worse? thanks, everyone.

Please will you pray for a friend's daughter P. She is pregnant with long-awaited twins, and has now developed a serious (unrelated) condition. They will be doing an emergency Caesarean tomorrow, and even then it could still be touch and go for P. And the babies, being premature, will be at the other end of the country from their mother and father. Please pray for the whole family.

I'm in a situation where I need to make a decision, and it's one of those situations where no alternative is a clear winner, and each avenue leads to a different kind of unhappiness. As this affects someone else I really want to do what is right for them. Guidance would be appreciated here.
Also please pray for my good friend D whose diabetes has been getting the better of him. He is now having difficulty walking as his feet are so badly affected.
For those of you who need it, especially those who read but don't want to commit to posting, or those who would like to but despair that God will answer. May you be answered and consoled.

For healing for QuakerCub.
For healing for LutheranChik and for E2. And a great support system.
For Starbug’s work situation to magically sort itself out with no further intervention or confrontation from her.
For Adeodatus’ brother Anthony, for the repose of his soul, and comfort for his family.
For comet to get it right. For neutralization of liars and manipulators.
For Cottontail’s P, for a successful delivery and good health for all.
For wisdom for Ariel.
For healing for Ariel’s D.
The Telemum has just told me that she has an appointment with the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic tomorrow morning.
[Vent alert] she said she had some chest pain during a moment of stress before we went away on holiday over a month ago, so she got an ECG and it wasn’t bad and it wasn’t good and the doctor prescribed her aspirin and gave her a referral. Now I think this is gastric reflux because she had an awful lot of that while we were away until I figured it out and bought her some antacids, plus she already has a reflux diagnosis that she doesn’t believe in. Plus she was “taking it easy” today and only walked about a mile while doing errands and bussed the rest. So I think she probably has gastric reflux and not a heart condition. BUT WHAT DO I KNOW. I’m going to worry about it anyway. [/Vent alert]
For my paper to get accepted for publication, my PhD proposal to be accepted with full funding and necessary extension of work contracts, and the project to get released on time this week.
For G. and S. and S; for the F. family, for R., and for T.

For the repose of my father-in-law Jack, who died last night in his 96th year, after a long, productive, and challenging life. My mother-in-law Laurie is devastated - after nearly 70 years of marriage she has lost her daily love and companion. She has dementia, so every moment is new grief: she hadn't realised he was dying, and she is in a bad way.
I will miss him greatly. Although he was a cantankerous old coot, he loved me and loved to confuse people by talking about his fifth daughter.

Praying for all.
Please pray for my friend M who has struggled with practically non-existent cartilage in her knees while heroically keeping going at her job. She finally got an MD to agree to surgery. (The first doctor said she should wait until it was unbearable; when she decided it was "unbearable" a few years later, the next guy said there wasn't enough material in there to work on at that point. Grrrr! ) But now huzzah! But...her GP's office screwed up and sent the wrong person's pre-surgery test results to the surgeon, ir wasn't caught, and she lost her window for a surgery date in October or November. Double grrr!! Now we are praying for a surgery cancellation to open up in November. Please, please, pretty please, God?
