Matrix boards at bus stops - last night, it told me that the next bus was due in 57 minutes.

Can't wait - call a taxi.

As taxi arrives, the bus turns up - the one that was due in 3 mins but which the board neglected to mention.

Do the makers of matrix boards have shares in taxi firms?

TICTH posts and letters to the papers that begin "So, ......".

It's an immature, passive-aggressive gesture and prevents anything resembling rational debate.

This is going to sound like a whining, self-obsessed rant. I don't care.

Dear bishops of the Church of England,

as is well known, you dislike same-sex relationships, particularly among your clergy. As is also well known, this means that many gay clergy, taking seriously their promises of obedience to the discipline of the Church, live solitary and often lonely lives. Many of them have at some point had to make a choice between the comfort of a human relationship and obedience to the Church.

As may be slightly less well known, that's not the whole truth. It doesn't, for example, tell the story of those 'fashionable' gay clergy – those who've attracted the bishop's favour, and are often in positions of considerable preferment – to whom the normal rules don't apply. It doesn't tell the story of those who quite openly live in same-sex relationships and don't attract a murmur from the bishops and other members of the hierarchy, who profess to disapprove of that sort of thing – 'but not for you, dear.' It doesn't tell the story of the same-sex partners who are welcome at all the right Church events, provided the guest list is carefully managed. In a nutshell, it doesn't tell of the favours shown to these, and the threats (often implicit or passive, but real nevertheless) made to others.

Now, don't get me wrong. I think it's wonderful that you're so open and accepting of the relationships of these favoured few. What I don't think is wonderful is that you exercise one rule for them and a very different rule for everyone else. What I don't think is wonderful is that if you know the right people and have the right connections, you're allowed to live in a very different world.

So, bishops, I would like to say this: fuck you. Fuck your hypocrisy. Fuck your two-faced cowardice. Fuck your lies. Fuck you for the times I've felt I've had to choose between human comfort and Church obedience, and have chosen obedience. Fuck you for the times I've been made to feel like a second-class priest. Fuck you for all that I've let go of, for the sake of your rules.

Fuck you for the sacrifice. Because you know what? It wasn't worth it. It wasn't fucking worth it, to sacrifice what I did and then watch from a distance as you turn a blind eye for those who've made no such sacrifice. Fuck every blessing you've given them, and denied me. From the depth of my heart, fuck the whole damned lot of you.

Yours in Christ,

the Revd Adeodatus

TICTH my fuckwitted line manager.

We start our new timetable tomorrow, with various new classes. The one constant was to be my S4 class, a bottom set and a tricky bunch. This was a promise made for the sake of continuity, given we are implementing a bunch of new exams and new school day timings. I got on with planning the first lessons, 2 periods either side of morning break (first time we've had double periods too - gag). I thought to myself, I know what I'm in for. Steady the buffs. It'll be fine.

OR SO I THOUGHT......

Fuckwit hands out S4 class lists this afternoon, and 8 additional pupils have been added to my list. This is no longer the same class. I don't know the new kids, and I have no idea how some of the really volatile pupils in my class will react. I start to get concerned.

I quickly begin to think through the practical implications of having 24 needy pupils in my room instead of 17. I'm unlikely to have a learning assistant until the exams are over. Provision of IT for extended writing projects will be a headache. This is all quite shit.

But the thing that makes me furious, furious to the point of nausea, is that she made up this spreadsheet last week and waited until today to hand it to me. The fucking coward. If she'd flagged this up last week, I'd have got my head round it. As it is, I've come home, had a meltdown about the emptiness, had a meltdown on the phone to my mum, made a list, had a word with myself and now all that remains is the fury. The cold, hard fury.

The net result of her cowardice will either be that she goes back and reworks her class lists, or that fire and brimstone rains down from a darkened heaven for 40 days and 40 nights (over an area restricted to the coast of Scotland east of Edinburgh. Wouldn't want to inconvenience anyone else too much. Or block the A1.)

In any event, she's lost any goodwill she had stored up for her. I already got her out of a tight spot with the new timetable by taking the lower ability seniors when she couldn't give me the Higher class she said I'd get to teach this year.

Fuck that shit.

TICTH those online pop quizzes - which Simpsons character are you? which Ben & Jerry ice cream flavour are you? etc etc.

I just did one, and really liked the result because of the explanation that went with it. So I posted it on my Facebook. Only to find that on Facebook, it just showed the result and not the explanation.

If only they were forced to read this.

I doubt very much that most bishops have any understanding about this. It's obvious from the misuse of statistics in The Pilling Report, which none of them has challenged, and from their badly, insensitively-worded 'Pastoral' letter re- same-sex marriage that they don't know much or care.

Maybe it is a duty to disobey them in such circumstances.

So, the husband of a lady from church is doing time for sex offences committed 20 years ago but only recently brought to light.

His wife and 1 year old son are playing in the garden. Next door their neighbour's 3 year old granddaughter, who has played with the little boy before, asks neighbour if she can play with the baby. And is very firmly (and loudly) told, "no, we don't play with nasty people. You're not to ask that again."

Did I mention the little boy is 1? Can you calculate that the offences were committed 19 years before he was born? Can you infer that he is growing up without a daddy and could do with some friends?

I can tell you who I think the nasty people in that scenario are - and it's not the people who happen to be related to a sex offender. It's the victim blamers, the ones who are content to heap hurt on top of hurt, to bolster their own sense of decent-citizenry. Dreadful.

The Proportional Representation, single block vote system in the forthcoming Euro elections. (I have a postal vote because I wil be away at a conference on polling day).

Has it changed? I think I remember being able to vote for 6 candidates of my choice - I want the 2nd and 4th people on the Labour list but not the others.

Then I want the Libdem who is excellent.

But I can only vote for one party and all 6 on its list.

I can't vote tactically to keep UKIP out.

TICH also the Lib Dem phone canvasser whom I asked to explain the system. When I told her that I wanted to support the LibDem candidate but felt unable to because of the system, she thanked me for supporting him and put the phone down having not really listened!

This.

And, pertinent to the thread, as far as I'm concerned the bastards can still go to Hell for their flagrant hypocrisy and carefully selective application of their own rules.

About 15 years ago a diocesan bishop told me in private conversation that whereas privately he was very liberal on certain DH issues, he couldn't say so publicly. One of the reasons he gave was, "I'm sure you'll understand - there are parishes in my diocese that would cut off our funding!" I told him then that if he didn't have the spine to say publicly something that he believed privately, I wasn't interested. And I'd say exactly the same to any of the bastards today.

Still, if the Lord spares me I'll be retiring next year. And then they can take their rule book and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Misleading instructions on the postal ballot paper for the Euro Elections:

It tells you to post sections A and B separately in the provided envelope.

once you have detached them and pout in the envelope, you read the back of it that says 'do NOT detach them'

So maybe i have spoiled my ballot paper, having made a special effort to get a postal vote because i will be away on polling day.

TICTH the depressing chimes of "tolerance won" upon the winning of the European Song Contest by an utterly disgusting hermaphrodite monster. I normally do not agree with Russian politicians, but for once they are right in saying that it is a sign of European decadence. It is indeed. And all those weakbrained idiots of the PC thought police who "celebrate" "diversity" [Projectile] can go and take a hike. As much as the simpleton brigades (ie the "public mainstream") have gobbled up the most outlandish theories voiced by pot smoking postmodernists in the 60s and 70s, there **are** things that are abnormal, disgusting, and unnatural. But most people are just too stupid to realise that - they cheer at yet another absurd monstrosity and love to feel good ("tolerant", "open") about it.
All I can say is, why don't you just go and bury your noses in shit? For it seems you have no sense of what is disgusting.
Decadent morons

TICTH (in no particular order):
- Back pain, caused by moving a concrete slab all by myself
- Me, for being stubborn enough to move said slab without asking for help
- Me again, for taking up gardening in my late forties and stupidly thinking it would involve a little light pottering, rather than humping enormous growbags and concrete around
- My bed, which used to be a refuge and is now a torture chamber that stinks of Deep Heat
- Any normal, everyday activity that seems harmless at the time, but reactivates the back pain later on - turning over in bed, driving, picking things up...

Clever little smartphones. Mine wasn't sitting quietly in my pocket while I travelled home. Quite unknown to me, it was busy sending no less than 44 text messages of garble to my doctor's surgery. I'm probably now on a blacklist and will never be able to phone them again. [Hot and Hormonal]

Oh boy, I didn't think they did that any more. My first brick once called the DR of the person in my car who was discussing said DR's behaviour with me and left the conversation all over the recorder.

A reminder to be very, very careful.

Yes, a few months ago mine also phoned a friend of mine 27 times early one morning. Reminder to me never to keep it in my pocket - I don't normally but was in a hurry trying to catch a train and had jammed it in thinking it would be safe. Ha.

Mine does this when it is not in a case... SO I had to spend a fortune on a decent case to stop it making unilateral calls..

TICTH when people don't turn up for meetings (especially meetings in the evening) and don't bother giving their apologies, meaning that there's not enough people to have the meeting and it's a waste of time for those that did turn up...

...especially when one of those who does turn up is the one who lives furthest away (like 6-7 miles away, when everyone else is really local).

... and especially especially when there's really important, urgent stuff that needs to be sorted out at that meeting that can't be because hardly anyone's turned up, meaning extra work now trying to chase it all up.

I have one but the magnetic clasp proved so powerful that it nuked my season ticket 6 times this year by just looking at it from what I hoped was a safe distance...

Airports. They are set out like shopping malls obstacle courses when all you want is the get the hell on to the plane.

Toronto airport in particular. And the routing of far too many flights through this "hub" er "hell".

So I'm going to email you this thing that I was supposed to do, and you can do it. it will only take an hour. Needs to be done before our meeting. Thanks!"

Cable companies. Fuck you! We'll be round between 08-20 and then show up at the last minute. Couldn't you be a little more precise? Got a problem? Phone this number and we'll keep you on hold for half-an-hour. Cunts!

Make that 7 as of this morning. I'm sick of this and wish they'd invent a season ticket with a strip that can actually cope. Bank cards and other things can cope with the (accidental) proximity of a mobile phone a few inches away.
