As promised on 19th April here are the current standings.
At the moment 11 of our 301 celebrities are seeking fame in other realms. Since my last review Dokka Umarov, Fred Phelps, Richard Hoggart, Felix Dennis and Eli Wallach have died.
The youngest so far was Dokka Umarov (51 points) and JFH's was the only list with him on which means you are top of the table for points.
kanchuko is leading the Quantity, not Quality race with 3 celebrities gracing the obituary columns but still only has 13 points in total.
Fred Phelps is the celebrity whose demise was most widely anticipated with 4 nominations.
Nobody has done a Shakespeare and actually died on their own birthday but Chris Chattaway was closest, dying just 12 days before his 83rd.

My parents had that book on their bookshelf when I was a kid. When I looked at it, it kinda freaked me out, 'cuz it was written in the form of straight dialogue with no narrator, plus letters memos etc, which seemed very weird at the time. Plus, it was about high-school kids, who always had a faint aura of disreputable edginess about them.
Years later, I saw the movie on TV, and it seemed like just a typical Blackboard Jungle(or whatever the template for that genre is) knockoff.

Emmanuel Kriaras, possibly the world's oldest Greek lexicographer and philologist, has died at the tender age of 107, leaving behind the twenty three volume Dictionary of Medieval Demotic Greek, 1100-1669 as his legacy. When asked recently what should be done regarding the current economic struggles facing his country, he replied thus:
Quote "First, the young should not leave to go abroad. They should learn to bear and persist. We are being drained of our blood as a nation by this youth flight. Second, they should stay here, work and love their work, they should not strike, especially teachers and doctors. Third, I should be going...I am tired. I don't want to live anymore and watch this situation."

Welcome, michel44!
In most cases we aren't really rooting for death, here. It is mostly just a morbidly humorous way to note the inevitable passage of life. I, too, rather hope that poor Lindsay can pull off a recovery ala Britney Spears and right the listing boat of her life. [ 06. September 2014, 05:11: Message edited by: Lyda*Rose ]
