The Guardian has secured an exclusive interview with Jeremy Clarkson. quote: Following what he described as a "dark night of the soul", Clarkson said he hoped to "regain the trust of the British public" by dedicating his time and financial resources to sustainable energy, road safety and forging mutual understanding and tolerance between people of different cultures and religions.

At first I thought that the NSW Premier's Cabinet reshuffle after election win belonged in this thread. I was mistaken.

In science news, dragons may not be as mythical as previously thought. It is feared that we may soon see a reawakening of these sleeping beasts because of climate change.

Nick Clegg has joined Grindr for election campaigning. (I liked the comment about rebound behaviour after finishing a long term relationship)

Since it is past noon GMT I can also disclose that on Facebook, in response to the King's College story, I posted this: "I walked past the back of King's yesterday and they would not let me (or anyone else) in - had to walk the long way round. Building work has obviously already begun - rushed ahead without consultation like so much else in the CofE. (I was in Cambridge for the official announcement that my friend Pete Broadbent is to be the next Principal of Westcott House - much rejoicing in the Cambridge Theological Federation)."

That's a shame. I rather like Kim Kardashian, in a trashily indulgent sort of way.

What strange news have you discovered this morning?
I did a news video for a very similar story for my Media Studies A level 18ish years ago... Exeter Cathedral had scaffolding up, and I put together an April Fools news article covering the news that it was being converted into a New Age temple.
Perhaps I should contact the Echo and ask where they got their idea from?

Lord P, who's a railway fan, told us that it had been announced on a railway website that all Welsh narrow gauge railways were going to standardise their tracks to 2 foot gauge.

Obviously an election ploy by Plaid Cymru.
Meanwhile, Virgin Trains are planning a new addition to their services. [ 01. April 2015, 18:06: Message edited by: Baptist Trainfan ]

I like the Dons on the roof.
I've stood on the roof of King's. About 20-odd years ago the Cathedral Organists' Association had a conference there, and during the chaps' business meeting the wives were taken on a tour which included going out on the roof, clambering up a ladder that was laid flush with the sloping roof, and standing on the ridge-pole at the top.
Stunning view, but scary ... [/tangent]

I've been on the roof of the chapel at Eton, which is late C20 (the roof not the rest of the chapel). Again, quite a view- the school and town, Windsor Castle, the river, Heathrow with all the planes coming and going- and then a huge ugly greybrown splodge. That, of course, was Slough.
