March 19 is the feast of St Joseph, spouse of the BVM, or summat like that. May 1st is indeed the Feast of St Joseph the Worker (in another avatar of a working man/carpenter)
Same Joe though.

There's no such thing as Trooping of the Colour. The correct name is Trooping the Colour. There's no "of" in the name. I'm sure I've pointed this out before. [ 01. June 2015, 23:03: Message edited by: Spike ]

I see it is Debbie Harry's 70th birthday. That's just wrong (and I suppose we should really call her Deborah now) and while she has aged, she has done so very well.
If people are fortunate and look after themselves, seventy must be the new fifty. My s-i-l is similar, which must bring some joy to my brother who has Parkinson's.

Motherboarde, the 3rd August has not been bank holiday in NSW for many years, nor any other date. We do not have official bank holiday here. Your source is out of date.
Many years ago, the Labor Premier of the state abolished bank holiday. There was a huge outcry from public servants who were about the only non bank employees to benefit from the holiday. Other employees in shops etc and other businesses did not get it. It was then surreptitiously added to the raft of public holidays around Christmas. They can still claim the day, but it is not bank holiday. With advent of cards and ATMs, who needs to visit the bank? Very few cheques are written, cashed or deposited down here in comparison with card and machine use.
Your source is very much out of date. [ 01. August 2015, 03:25: Message edited by: Lothlorien ]
