We are sad to announce that Doublethink has escaped the mental anguish of Hosting the Circus. The years of Hosting various boards across the Ship of Fools has been highly appreciated, and we have benefited greatly from her exacting standards.

Enjoy your freedom, Doublethink.

Uncle Pete I resigned as a result of, what turned out to be, an unresolvable difference of opinion as to one aspect of how SoF is moderated.

I would like to stay involved with the boards as a reading and posting shipmate, but I will just have to see how it goes. I'm not sure yet, whether it feels too much of an issue for me to want to continue to participate longer term.

Is the issue a private one or one which might be useful to discuss? It seems unfortunate that your many contributions would reach an end if it is something that might be sorted out.

Whatever comes to pass now, may I offer kind regards for your future, and kind regards of your contributions.

I'd like to add my thanks to Doublethink for her years of service as a Host; her experience, wit and intelligence will be missed on the Boards and upstairs in the Hosts' lounge.

Enjoy your freedom, DT, and, as they say, don't be a stranger.

I can well imagine DT encountering an issue that is hard to resolve. The rest of us have Dead Horses for issues and Hell for other people (as Jean-Paul Sartre would say) but the hosts and admins have to get on with it and each other.

DT has principles and intelligence and we've been very fortunate. I hope we'll continue to be fortunate to have her around on the Lower Deck as I've learned a lot from DT, even though it doesn't always show.

I don't usually visit the Circus, but have been very appreciative of DT's contributions, visible and invisible, across the Ship. Speaking purely selfishly, I do hope she hasn't gone forever.

Thank you, DT, for all you've given.

I don't think I can do that, unacceptable is unacceptable. I wish SoF the best for the future, and I hope that will include some level of change.

Goodbye.

You will be very much missed as one of the sanest and intelligent posters here, not afraid to challenge others, but without malice. The Ship will be a lesser place without you.

And on a personal level, I still have (and occasionally wear) the rainbow socks (similar to my avatar) which you presented to me at a Shipmeet once, years ago, so you won't be forgotten!

Godspeed.

I share that hope, Leaf. I said recently that one would have to have viewed the Ship with a bag over their heard for the last 15 years or so to miss how much Doublethink has contributed to the Ship. I'm grieved that she will not be here, but that does not mean she will not be present, if you get me.

I could have penned these exact words myself. DT's posts, even (or especially?) when I disagreed with them, have always been very considered and respectful. Maybe in some small way they have helped nudge my viewpoint in directions they would not have otherwise gone. Doublethink, if you can't be persuaded to stay I wish you all the best. But I hope you will continue to contribute, at least from time to time.

I'd be surprised if anyone didn't have some differences of opinion on the Ship. Just look at the rowing boat avatar - it's a sign that we're actively doing theology, and that is a good and positive activity. Hope you find a way through, Doublethink, I look forward to rowing with you / against you, into the future....
