He was very rude, very egotistical. He was actually a bit of a prima donna.
(Yeah, the books are rather cheesy, but I was very young at the time and quite impressed with them.)

So we bid farewell to Terry Pratchett. A bringer of joy to so many, in later life he made us think hard about our choice in mortality. Ultimately a choice it seems he has not made.

The scores at the moment are:
Leading the death pickers is Gwai with 75 points. Then comes Cottontail with 58 and Dal Segno with 50. These three each have 2 from their list who will not feature in 2016 and they jointly lead the "Quality not Quantity" leaderboard.
The first anticipated death of the year was Leon Brittan who netted North East Quine the "Inside Track with the Grim Reaper" award.
The most recent death was Robert Schuller (as noted above) and if nobody else were to die this year Lyda*Rose would win the "Sudden Death" award.
Three people have scored on the "Why Does it Always Happen To Me" leaderboard. balaam and piglet for Terry Pratchett and Og: Thread Killer for Edward Brooke.
Apart from the two mentioned above this years celebrities who will not see the 2016 new year firework shows are Abdullah al Saud, Leonard Nimmoy, Sam Simon, Terry Pratchett and Malcolm Fraser. There are reports that Mullah Fazlullah has been killed but these are not yet confirmed so I am awaiting further news, as is la vie en rouge.

Richie was one of the few modern commentators I never got the chance to meet. I used to work at a cricket ground and met many of them for ODIs about 10 years ago.
He always seemed a perfect gentleman. Those are 16 points I didn't really want.

Dr Margaret Rule, archaelogical director of the Mary Rose excavation, has died. One of the people responsible for my love of history, nothing this side of dementia can erase being glued to the TV watching the ship break surface for the first time since 1545.

Although I had never heard of her, I found myself feeling very sad when I read the story - not just for the loss of such a young life, but because they seemed to be devoted to each other, which is something of a rarity in Mr. Ferdinand's profession.
