Morgan did die in early December, so I can understand the confusion there. James Best, maybe seen in a roundup of this year's deaths?

My apologies - I think I clicked a link on FB, and assumed it was "current".

I've also seen several recent references on FB to the death of Dave Brubeck, who died in 2012 according to Wikipedia.

Has anyone else noticed that the periphery of their Facebook page regularly has headlines suggesting either (a) the death of Angela Lansbury/Dame Maggie Smith/Cher/Sally Field* or (b) the irretrievable breakdown of a royal marriage?

Doesn't that sort of thing count as libel?

I often wonder about that myself. I mean it's just obvious click-bait, but I've seen both Cher and Sally Field "Facebook ad-dead" in the past week. Maybe the celebs in question just don't think it's worth suing these companies for such clearly fake death stories?

At last I have the results. Fanfare, please.

The winner of the Inside Track with the Grim Reaper award (first death of the year) is North East Quine, ably assisted by Leon Brittan.

The Sudden Death Award (last death) is shared between Schroedinger's Cat and Spike for Lemmy.

Quantity not Quality is also shared. For predicting three deaths Cottontail (Leonard Nimoy, Sam Simon & Chris Woodhead) and Sipech (Leonard Nimoy, Richie Benaud & Christopher Lee) need mantlepiece space for six months each.

Why Does It Always Happen To Me's inaugural winner is balaam who changed his mind on Terry Pratchett & BB King.

And the main competition was won by Cottontail whose three successes netted 90 points. Gwai was second with 75 points from two and An die Freude third with 73 points from one.

Well done, everyone, and thank you for playing.
