I am really struggling with most areas of life at present. The thing I need most is not to fuck up at work. Everything else is fucked and probably always will be, but if work goes wrong as well I won't cope with that. Sorry.

A big earthquake hit southern Japan earlier this evening, a 6.4 magnitude with the epicentre on land. Reports so far indicate that several buildings have collapsed, but that there have been no fatalities.

Prayers ascending for the people of southern Japan. Later reports include fatalities due to the building collapses.
A quake of this magnitude will probably be followed by a series of aftershocks, adding to the damage and distress.

For my mum please .
She has had had some scary health test results, needs to wait until Tue to see a specialist and is understandably v anxious.
I live / work in another country and am really worried too (although I try not to show this to her, of course) and concerned about the potential consequences.
Feel like this now - not good at feeling helpless and scared.

The quake on Thursday looks more like a pre-shock. Overnight there's been a larger, M7.3, quake. It's getting quite bad down there, with a lot of buildings unsafe and people in the open.
I think there was a Shipmate down that way at one time, but I can't remember who (let alone if they're still there).

I have seen speculation that these earthquakes may be the preliminary stages of a major eruption of Mount Aso. There is potential for a major disaster.

I hope they are right Firenze. When the report mentioned the sequence it sounded like that following the Feb 2011 one here.
I am not following this online or on TV because of the memories it evokes, but I am continuing to pray for the people, for everyone asking and for anyone needing.
