As a consequence of a different conversation (of which more later....), I do believe that we may have persuaded a certain heavenly body to leave her Alaskan hideaway and visit London.

There are five possible dates free in her hectic schedule for a mega-London-meet and I am posting here to see which dates are convenient for the largest number of Shipmates. It's a chance in a lifetime to see the Comet - let's see if we can show her what a full-sized shipmeet is really like!

So here are the options:
Weekend of.... 8th October
15th October
Around Christmas
New Years' weekend
7th January

So, London shipmates and those who would be willing to travel for this astronomical delight... when would work best for you?

--------------------
Miss you, Erin.

Would love the opportunity to meet Comet, and would travel to London by train so would rather avoid Christmas and New Year when many trains have a rest.
Will keep an eye on this thread.

I would love to meet Comet and Emma-Louise I have no idea whether getting out of the house would be possible, but if I can, I will try.

Will keep watching.

(And yes, I know that Comet can make it from Alaska, I should be able to make it 30 miles into London. But I will have to see.)

Glad to see that you are mellowing ....not.

The Christmas/New Year dates are a complete bust, for family reasons, but I'm checking and might be able to do one of the October dates.

If I can get, be prepared for a shock, Comet. The SoF photo of me (in James Bond mode) needs updating, to something more like this. But if I can get, I'll see if I can get the beard trimmed first.

October might be the best bet, if only for reasons of weather (Come on, Comet, you must be aware that the UK grinds to a halt in 2cm of snow.) [Snigger]

After further intensive research, I think we might be looking at the October weekends.
Get them in your diaries now, and we'll start to look at plans in earnest once Comet has made some definite decisions about travel plans.

Weasel......... Autumn in the UK is pure delight.... and when else would you get the opportunity to see both me and Comet simultaneously? What on earth could better that?

Based on current diary I could do 8th October or 7th January - though the latter is a tad weather-dependant! 15th October requires letting down some others, while Christmas/New Year might be difficult from a family point of view, subject to arrangements not yet arranged!!!

For Comet I'll gladly travel from the depths of Gloucestershire!!
