Final travel days are not yet settled (airplane reservations require you have money. What's with THAT?!?) but the goal is to possibly be in town for both weekends, and spending the week visiting some friends as well as exploring and getting lost and probably getting mugged and looking like a total dorky tourist. I promise to let you all know final details, but for now we can think towards some sort of axe murderer gathering both the weekends of the 8th and the 15?

That's odd. I just show up with a completed application form and a new picture, pay in my money, give them my passport and about 10 days later, I'm good to go. (Of course, they might make it difficult for you, because Amerkans make it difficult for Indian tourists. On the other hand maybe they just don't like you.)

It was a complicated issue because I was to be chaperoning a bunch of teens to a conference. Tourist visas: denied. Educational visas: only to attend an education institution. Business visas: not allowed for under 18s. The adults from the US attending the conference got in fine with business visas.

Also we were supposed to bring one legal guardian per kid. Which we did eventually set up, at all of us parents' personal expense. But it wasn't meant to be.

I have always neglected to bring my axe to a shipmeet. So I'm only halfway to being an axe murderer.

As LRP said, the 8th if you'll let an axe non-murderer in.

Nothing specific until Comet is able to book her flights. We have talked about a shipmeet on the Sunday of the first weekend and the Saturday of the second, but it depends on when she is able to get plane tickets at a reasonable cost.

ALAS ! The sad news is that Comet has, due to unforeseen circumstances, had to cancel her trip to the UK>
We're hoping to re-schedule for Spring.
That's not to say that we couldn't get together for a shipmeet in her absence and raise a glass in her honour, of course.

Miss you, Erin.

[Frown] [Frown] It does at least make the fact that that weekend appears to be when we next need to go and visit Sandemaniac's parents more copable with.

Here's hoping that spring re-scheduling works (and with a date I'm not already double-booked on!)
