Whoa! Anticipating the London Shipmeets and any other Shipmeets that might involve Cusanus:-

Not sure if he's able to get online whilst staying in the darkest depths of deepest darkest Lancashire, 'cos they still have telephones that require vigorous cranking of a handle oop North - if communication regarding these meets is essential in the next few days, please note that the Ship is going into dry dock for a few days. If you're likely to need contact with Cusanus (or vice versa)this might be a good moment to exchange e-mail addresses / telephone numbers / postal addresses / carrier pigeon locations &c.

Forgive the repetition, but I shall post this again on the other threads just in case there are Shipmates who don't bother reading the Styx. (As if... [Eek!] )

Corpus
[I'm happy to spend my evening trawling the web to ensure the further success of a drinks party, even if I can't be there! Cusanus - have a Cobra / IPA / GIN + tonic for me!]

I'm afraid we'll be "maybe's" right up to the last minute. ShadoK's father is having a very unpleasant operation tomorrow, and ShadoK's gone over to be with his mum during the first couple of days. If all goes well, he'll be back by the end of the week, but who knows?

If we can come, we will.

I know holly in the past has used Laterooms.com to find somewhere cheap but decent at the last minute. There's a couple of rooms in central London hotels for less than Ł30 on Jan 21st, and several more under Ł40, showing there at the moment.

Great to see that so many people are planning to be there.

I doubt we will be there before 7.30 JHN. I think James used to sometimes get there early and clear some tables by evangelistic or other means, so anyone doing so would be part of a fine tradition.

Nearly Saturday [Yipee] .

I will probably be in Central London for at least part of the day prior to the Shipmeet* though I may pop home before going to the Sanctuary.

Looking forwards to meeting "as many as can be here present" to badly paraphrase ++Tommy Cranmer [Biased] .

*The Museum of London looks likely for at least part of the day, though I haven't made a definite decision.

I certainly intend to make sure we have a meet a month in 2006 as well, and I for one will think of him every time!

I am aiming for 7:30, but if there are going to be many people in the pub prior to this I don't think I actually have any plans for the afternoon anyway.

Agonisingly I can't make it. [Frown] Lost my job last week, so can't afford the travel. When I'm a bit more wealthy, I shall pop over to the big smoke and raise a glass or 10 to his Gambitness's good name.

Hmm, I have to meet people at the Ritz at 6.30 (fairly sure I should interject 'dahlings' here in an ironic tone - be reassured that I don't normally go around drinking in the Ritz) but if I could be sure that there would be people around, the Sanctuary is sort of on the way and I could drop in and raise a glass in Gambit's memory.

(Might be overdressed though!)

Otherwise, sorry I can't make it and have a good time.

I'm in town already - had to work today - so I intend to be there a bit earlier than my normal 9-ish start time. So maybe I'll see some of you I often miss.

Of course the downside of that is that with 4 hours in the pub instead of my usual 2, by 11 I'll be most squiffy...

Hmm, a double post. Am I the first back home?

On my way there, I expected Gambit to be waiting as usual - a very odd experience.

A very good meet, with loads of shipmates and we took over the upper space. [Cool] And it was nice walking down to Victoria with a mini-crowd.

My bus was on the correct side of the Edgeware Road - there was some kind of Kurdish party (a wedding??) on the southward side, all over the road, dancing men in fancy, elegant wear, drums, singing, cars hooting in rythym, and all the traffic jammed and unable to move for miles. Fun to pass it by on the bus, and to dodge an ambulance whizzing down our side of the road as there was no way it could travel on the left. [Help]

It was a good meet with plenty of old faces and some new ones.

I was first there and managed to spread myself and belongings over 2 tables in anticipation of a crowd of shipmates (what is the collective term ?).

Gradually we managed to fill the tables, then the whole upper area, including some furniture rearrangement so people could move around and chat easily - but which made counting heads tricky (I think there were 27 of us at one stage).

Then again that should be 28 as a certain someone was there in spirit - if not in Fuller's ESB [Big Grin]

Don't try and type when you've had a quaffing session!

A crew, surely?

Sorry I vanished quite so precipitately, I needed to renew my acquaintance with the big friendly bottle of painkillers the nice doctor prescribed me, and also I wanted to be sure of getting home before chucking out time. (Even so, someone nearly sat on me on the bus)...

There will be photos. I don't know what they'll be like, taking pictures with one hand is a tricky business (especially when you keep confusing the "off" button and the "take the picture" button), and also I'm still trying to learn what my new camera does.

But it was good to see everyone.
