Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiem aeternam, dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Let light eternal shine on them, O Lord, with thy saints forever, for thou art merciful. Rest eternal grant them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them.
In paradisum deducant te angeli, in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere aeternam habeas requiem.
May the angels lead you into paradise, may the martyrs receive you in your coming, and may they guide you into the holy city, Jerusalem. May the chorus of angels receive you and with Lazarus once poor may you have eternal rest.

Be thou my vision, O Lord, of my heart. All else be naught to me save that thou art. Thou my best thought by day or by night. Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom and thou my true Word I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord. Thou my great Father, thine own will I be. Thou in thy dwelling, and I safe with Thee.

High King of Heaven, when Vict'ry is won, May I reach Heaven's joys, bright heaven's Sun. Great heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Praying also for those who keep vigil; Lord, be with us as we keep vigil for Molly. Help us remember that we do so in your strength and that, even though we are scattered around the world, your love enfolds us all.
I will go into the Cathedral here and light candles for us all at 1.30 am GMT.

This hymn has been running through my mind for a few days. It relates to us in my mind since we are a Ship of Fools adrift on the sea of life on Earth.
Eternal Father, strong to save, Whose arm hath bound the restless wave, Who biddest the mighty ocean deep Its own appointed limits keep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea!
O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard And hushed their raging at Thy Word, Who walked on the foaming deep, And calm amidst its rage didst sleep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea!
Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood Upon the chaos dark and rude, And bid its angry tumult cease, And give, for wild confusion, peace; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea!
O Trinity of love and power! Our family shield in danger’s hour; From rock and tempest, fire and foe, Protect us wheresoever we go; Thus evermore shall rise to Thee Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

I am praying through some of God’s promises for Molly…
Lord I pray that Molly will have confidence in each of the good things you have promised for her and the wonders you have in store for her:
Psalm 145
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. 14 The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
Lord, uphold Molly now, as you have promised and lift her up to see your glory shining upon her
James 1. 12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Lord, Molly has persevered in faith under a severe trial. She is an inspiration to me and to others. Please make ready for her a crown of life.
Psalm 85:
9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. 10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. 11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. 12 The LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. 13 Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
Lord, surround Molly with the love that reaches down to her faithfulness, and cover her with your peace.
Psalm 91
4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Lord, at this hour let Molly feel your gentle embrace.

From Isaiah 41
9You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you out 10Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Bless you, Molly, St. Seb and everyone who cares so much about you. You have proven without a doubt that there is an abundance of love in this world.

A hymn by William Cowper, based on Lamentation 60: 15-20
Hear what God the Lord hath spoken O my people weak and few; Comfortless, afflicted, borken, Fair abodes I build for you: Thorns of heartfelt tribulation Shall no more perplex your ways; You shall name your walls, Salvation, And your gates shall all be praise.
Then, like streams that feed the garden, Pleasures without end shall flow; For the Lord, your faith rewarding, All his bounty shall bestow: Still in undisturbed possession, Peace and righteousness shall reign; Never shall you feel oppression, Hear the voice of war again.
You no more your suns descending, Waning moons no more shall see; But your griefs forever ending, Find eternal noon in me; God shall rise, and shining o'er you, Change to day the gloom of night; He, the Lord shall be your glory, God your everlasting light.
Thank you Lord, for all your good promises to each of us. Hold Molly safe now in the knowledge of the pleasures without end which you have in store for her.

Been singing Winona's "Testify to Love" for Molly this evening. If you don't know the lyrics, they're here - the song is on the Touched by an angel CD.
quote:
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences When words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love

Now, I know that we have a time difference here and it is just after lunchtime in the States; but it is cold and dark over here. And I love the words to this, I think they say it all really. So this is in the hope of a restful afternoon, a comfortable evening and a peaceful night ahead...
Ar hyd y nos (all through the night)
with melody
Sleep my love, and peace attend thee All through the night; Guardian angels God will lend thee, All through the night, Soft the drowsy hours are creeping, Hill and vale in slumber steeping, I my loving vigil keeping, All through the night.
While the moon her watch is keeping All through the night While the weary world is sleeping All through the night O'er thy spirit gently stealing Visions of delight revealing Breathes a pure and holy feeling All through the night.
Love, to thee my thoughts are turning All through the night All for thee my heart is yearning, All through the night. Though sad fate our lives may sever Parting will not last forever, There's a hope that leaves me never, All through the night.
Angels watching ever round thee, All through the night, In thy slumbers close surround thee, All through the night, They should of all fears disarm thee, No forebodings should alarm thee, They will let no peril harm thee, All through the night.

Checking in for my vigil, this time with Edna St Vincent Millay*.
Afternoon on a Hill
I will be the gladdest thing Under the sun! I will touch a hundred flowers And not pick one.
I will look at cliffs and clouds With quiet eyes, Watch the wind bow down the grass, And the grass rise.
And when lights begin to show Up from the town, I will mark which must be mine, And then start down!
*Note: guys, make sure that you're not breaking copyright with the lyrics and poems and prayers you post here, okay? I would hate to have to edit aubstantial portions of your posts out of this thread when all's said and done. Thanks.

I heard the voice of Jesus say "Come unto me, and rest; Lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast." I came to Jesus, as I was weary, and worn, and sad; I found in him a resting-place, and He has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say "Behold, I freely give the living water, thirsty one, stoop down and drink, and live." I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.
I heard the voice of Jesus say "I am this dark world's light; look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright." I looked to Jesus, and I found in Him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I'll walk till travelling days are done.

I am planning to go over to church to do some organ prac for a couple of hours from around 3pm-5pm my time (4am-6am). I will dedicate my practice to you Molly, as a prayer. When I get home I'll post what I played for you.
Thou knowest Lord, the secrets of our hearts. Shut not, shut not thy merciful ears unto our prayers, But spare us Lord, spare us Lord most holy, O God, O God, most mighty! O holy and most merciful Saviour, Thou most worthy Judge eternal: Suffer us not, suffer us not at our last hour for any pains of death, for any pains of death to fall, to fall from thee.
Amen. [ 05. December 2002, 23:06: Message edited by: Nunc Dimittis ]

From Psalm 32:
Therefore let all who are faithful offer prayer to you; at a time of distress, the rush of mighty waters shall not reach them. You are a hiding-place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.
God, grant Miss Molly a 'hiding-place' within the hollow of your hand, free from distress, free from trouble, surrounded by the prayers and love of her brothers and sisters, and upheld by the power of your loving saving power. Amen.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded that nothing, neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8.35
Am on line now and praying.

(Lines found in the Bible of Major Malcolm Boyle, killed in action after the landing on D-Day, June 1944.)
If I should never see the moon again Rising red gold across the harvest field, Or feel the stinging of soft April rain, As the brown earth her hidden treasures yield;
If I should never taste the salt sea spray As the ship beats her course against the breeze, Or smell the dog-rose and the new-mown hay, Or moss and primroses beneath the tree;
If I should never hear the thrushes wake Long before sunrise in the glimmering dawn, Or watch the huge Atlantic rollers break Against the rugged cliffs in baffling scorn;
If I have said goodbye to stream and wood, To the wide ocean and the green clad hill, I know that He who made this world so good Has somewhere made a heaven better still.
This I bear witness with my latest breath Knowing the love of God, I fear not death.

I have been praying the BCP daily devotions for individuals and families. Here's the one for "At the Close of Day"
At the Close of Day
Psalm 134
Behold now, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, * you that stand by night in the house of the LORD.
Lift up your hands in the holy place and bless the LORD; * the LORD who made heaven and earth bless you out of Zion.
A Reading
Lord, you are in the midst of us and we are called by your Name: Do not forsake us, O Lord our God. Jeremiah 14:9,22
Lord, you now have set your servant free * to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior, * whom you have prepared for all the world to see;
A Light to enlighten the nations, * and the glory of your people Israel.
[[Prayers for ourselves and others may follow. It is appropriate that prayers of thanksgiving for the blessings of the day, and penitence for our sins, be included.]]
Lord, bless your servant, Miss Molly. Help her in her illness and pain, ease her passing into Glory, and bless all those who grieve at her suffering. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Collect
Visit this place, O Lord, and drive far from it all snares of the enemy; let your holy angels dwell with us to preserve us in peace; and let your blessing be upon us always; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, bless us and keep us. Amen

Miss me a little – but not for long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me – but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone It’s all part of the Master’s plan A step on the road to home.

(Found st Bart's the great, on time, but couldn't get in because they were filming there (quite a lot of films have scenes there) so I went to St B the less, which is the chapel for st B's hospital. As it happened I spent half an hour listening to a mass being said, and the Advent themes of waiting on joyful expectation resounded with me so much. The priest there will be praying as well now--so many people have been touched by this)

"My dear," came the voice of the parson from where he sat listening to every word [Isy] uttered, "my dear, nothing but the hand of the Son of Man will come near you out of the dark, soft-stroking your heart, and closing up the terrible wound into it. In the name of God, the saviour o' men, I tell you, daughter, the day will come when you will smile in the very face of the Lord himself, at the thought of what he has brought you through!

I will pray 3am til 4am after Eanswyth. I might not be able to post online, though. Limbs are still falling out of trees from the ice storm, and my power is not guaranteed. It's flickering off and on crazily.
God's power is always available however, and I will meet Him to pray for Molly, St Seb, Marion, and Molly's family by candlelight if I'm not on Ship.

Was unable to get online and sign on for my hour (silly software problems), so I gave up quickly and just prayed. Kept coming back to the first verse of one of my favorite Advent hymns:
Come, thou long-expected Jesus, Born to set thy people free; From our frears and sins release us, Let us find our rest in thee.

Signing in for my turn.
I heard this song on my way home from work and it made me happy through my tears.
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul! What wondrous love is this, O my soul! What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss to lay aside his crown for my soul, for my soul, to lay aside his crown for my soul.
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing, to God and to the Lamb, I will sing. To God and to the Lamb who is the great I AM, while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing, while millions join the theme, I will sing.
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on, I'll sing on, And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on. And when from death I'm free I'll sing and joyful be, and through eternity I'll sing on, I'll sing on, and through eternity I'll sing on.

I've lit candles, and prayed throughout the day. Molly, what an exceptional woman you are!
My candles are now just pools of light, but my prayers for you will continue on...

Almighty God, you have surrounded us with a great cloud of witnesses: Grant that we, encouraged by the good example of your servant, Molly (Linda), may persevere in running the race that is set before us, until at last we may with her attain to your eternal joy; through Jesus Christ, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, onefGod, for ever and ever. Amen.
Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Grant that in our earthly pilgrimage we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whom all our intercessions are acceptable through the Spirit, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Dying, Christ destroyed our death. Rising, Christ restored our life. Christ will come again in glory. As in baptism, Molly put on Christ, so in Christ may Molly soon be clothed with Glory.
Praying for Molly's comfort and for peace in the hearts of all her family and friends.
Thank you God, for the love that binds us together.
