The God Ken knew so well conquers sorrow and death, and Ken enters that place where he sees no longer through a darkened glass but face to face. For all you've been, Ken, we give thanks, and for God's love and resurrection hope to embrace Persephone, busyknitter, and all those who have loved you most dearly we pray [Votive]

[Votive] For Ken's family and friends.

Ken, as so many others have said, one who's convictions and faith shone through what he wrote but who was also willing to share his vulnerabilities with us. His presence will be missed here.

Ken, may you now be rejoicing in the presence of the Lord you loved and walked with in this life.

That moment on a thread when you were waiting for Ken's intervention - which would always be savvy, provocative and thoughtful. We shall miss him hugely.

From the 'suddenly nervous' thread--ken's thread about his Easter sermon:

- Posted 21 April, 2014 00:29 'People are always very nice so I can never be sure how a sermon goes down (perhaps that is a mercy) but some seemed very moved by it.

A few rather odd reactions that I did not expect. One person said I seemed to be "on fire" with what I was saying. I hardly know how to take that. I felt quite calm and very tired. The curate said that part of it reminded him of the Orthodox Kontakion for the Dead. Which was not in my mind at all.

Used old AV for familiar words and more literal translation and "sense of occasion". not NIV like pew Bibles.

Afterwards I was exhausted. Barely made it to end of the church without falling asleep. I had to ask for a lift home even though its only a few hundred yards. A. (my daughter) came home with me but I could hardly talk to her. Lay down on couch and slept for four hours. Was OK after that though.'

[Votive]
Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints:
where sorrow and pain are no more;
neither sighing but life everlasting.
Thou only art immortal, the creator and maker of man:
and we are mortal formed from the dust of the earth,
and unto earth shall we return:
for so thou didst ordain,
when thou created me saying:
"Dust thou art und unto dust shalt thou return."
All we go down to the dust;
and weeping o'er the grave we make our song:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
