Verse nominated by Donald Ward

"Then the spirit of the Lord rushed on him, and he went down to Ashkelon. He killed thirty men of the town, took their spoil, and gave the festal garments to those who had explained the riddle." (Judges 14:19, in context)

Donald Ward comments: Samson should ease up on the multiple homicides. It was only a riddle. One Philistine should have been sufficient.

Well, I would argue that one of the points of the Sampson story is that he was a little quick on the draw. Quicker than he should have been.

I cannot expect people to believe “
Jesus loves me, this I know” of they don’t believe “Kelly loves me, this I know.”

I've seen a fairly conservative preacher once use this as an example that Samson was a complete moral failure. Again...there's very little, if anything, in Judges that's supposed to be positive.

Samson was rather good at shooting himself in both feet. At least this time he didn't bring the whole edifice crashing down. [Disappointed]

Samson was probably a literary parody of the Heracles myth of the Philistines (who were displaced Myceneans), so it's understandable that he would be portrayed as a brutish oaf.
