I have a friend, musician in his late 60s, eyes light up at the sight of a piano, loves to play easy-on-the-ears jazz, adores getting children into music, runs the children's choir at an Episcopal church, teaches music in an elementary school (not sure if that's paid or volunteer), has always supported himself and his family teaching music.

Real nice guy. Interested in music; how if at all a church can help the homeless; he's on the newcomers committee and interested in how to help people get to know each other. Widowed half a dozen years ago. Plays keyboard and leads the kids choir in one service and then sings in the adult choir the other service. Is puttering with writing music and has encouraged my writing.

He is heading to UK to attend the International Children's Choir Festival. Before the fest he'll be in London July 17th through the 22nd, staying at Hilton Kensington--far north west end.

He would love to meet someone for a beer in London. And he figured I so often quote one or another "British cyber-friend" I might know someone. :-)

Anyone interested, say so or send me a PM. Thanks!

I'm usually up for a Shipmeet in London - or a non-Shipmeet in this case, but we have friends from the US coming over at the same time. Not staying in London, though.

I think it's the same time as Pata le Bon and Rugasaw are coming over too.

And I'll be there a couple of weeks later -- I'll be posting here as soon as I figure out an exact date (probably Monday, 5 August)!
