Thread: Hosting Changes - Farewell and thank you to PeteC

After more years of Hosting than he'd probably care to think about, PeteC is hanging up his Hosting regalia to become a Shipmate once again.
PeteC is the first, the last and probably the only, winner of the Host of the Year Award. From the nomination speech by Sober Preacher's Kid:
quote: "My reasons for nominating: I'm nominating the grandfatherly PeteC not for his kind and gentle prodding in AS, but for his truly entertaining stint as a stand-in Hell Host while comet took shore leave during Lent.
He ate threads for lunch. He belittled lame posters with glee and abandon. I turned on my computer and open up Hell just to see what threads he had closed lately. He tried, and succeeded in raising the standard of invective, wit, and callous nonchalance in Hell. ...
The rest is here for those who fancy a trip down Memory Lane.
Please use this thread to thank PeteC for his massive and much appreciated contribution to the smooth sailing of the Ship over the years.

What? Pete: it won't be quite the same without your avatar hanging out of the crow's nest. Glad you'll still be about the decks though. Sigh.

PeteC has taught me a heck of a lot about hosting and if I've picked up 10% of it I'm doing OK. The rest of you have been really fortunate to have had him as host of whatever board he has hosted. Yes, he's that good.
God Bless you, and thank you PeteC. [ 30. August 2013, 22:54: Message edited by: Sioni Sais ]

I thought it was the reverse: Pete seemed a lovely gentleman until he demonstrated his true capabilities in Hell.
Thanks, Pete. Don't let your vicious streak wither. Please continue to wield your scalpel in Hell, at least as a Shipmate.

Welcome, Pete! *Plumps up cushions* What is your favourite drink / music / newspaper? We have the whole variety here, just waiting on your word and we'll bring them to you.
The only question you'll be asking yourself once you settle in is: 'Whyever did I stay a host for so long???'

Now that he's almost retired, we can reveal the truth about his Hellhosting gig.
Back when he was still shiny and beaming from his Ultimate Victory Over All as HOTY, we had no idea about his Hellhish proclivities. We're still not sure whether the temp position during H&A Days was the seed of the horror, or merely his first chance to reveal his R'lyehian origin. Regardless, when a call was put out to ask for a new permanent Hellhost, instead of answering verbally, Pete simply grabbed a Host-in-training and ate him.
CRUNCH scream CRUNCH scream CRUNCH gurgle CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH
We were very impressed. Also, we were too scared to say no.
So, anyway, thank you for your impressive career Hosting. And please remember that everybody on the Crew is your friend, and we all taste terrible.
