In the light of all that's been happening in the world this week, Lord we pray for the people: men, women and children who have been terrorised, driven from their homes, killed or maimed, or affected in any way.

Please give them strength, enfold them in your love, guide and protect the aid agencies who are seeking to help, show the oppressors that this is not your will, and bring peace.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers.

Amen.

Tomorrow is a day of prayer for the persecuted peoples of Iraq. Our church is open from 8am to 8pm, and I'm sure many other churches will be too. Please join in the prayers for peace in Iraq.

For all who suffer [Votive]

For all who are persecuted [Votive]

For all who are wounded [Votive]

For all who are bereaved [Votive]

Bring peace in our time, for there is no one who fighteth for us save thou, O Lord.

Keeping fit was an obsession with Fr Moity .... He did chin ups in the vestry, calisthenics in the pulpit, and had developed a series of Tai-Chi exercises to correspond with ritual movements of the Mass. The Antipope Robert Rankin

Lord, when so many people use you name in vain, our only hope is that your love will shout louder than all of those. We can only turn to you.

Reveal the liars that say dominance and violence and oppresion are signs of power. Strengthen and give courage those who know that true power is in healing, and uplifting, and growing. Let the light of people of peace overcome the darkness of hate.

And bless those who in ways large and small defy the "powerful."

Come, Holy Spirit

The Day of Prayer for the people of Iraq is now over so I shall close this thread and refer everyone to the general Prayers of the Faithful thread here in All Saints - our special place for all prayers both large and small. I will also transfer the OP there to give it a wider audience.
