It's still Saturday here at the moment, but as I've got to be up at silly o'clock to sing at the Eucharist and New Fire at six in the morning I'm going to have an early night and I wish everyone a happy Easter in advance.

Halleljah! Happy Easter! Very good news indeed!
(I'm currently listening to the BBC Radio 4 Easter Service from Stratford-upon-Avon - it's one of the best I've heard in a long time! No way a-Haydn'!)

At home, but watched the Eucharist from Leicester Cathedral, and then the Pope (all courtesy of BBC1). My vicar has brought me communion so I feel very blessed.

We had a very nice Easter Vigil service starting at six. Our former rector, who is now retired, asked if she could have a part in the service. Before she went into the priesthood, she was an opera singer. She sang the Exsultet as well as other parts of the service. It was wonderful.
The service was organized by the Canterbury students (the Episcopal students at Virginia Tech). They read the lessons and provided some music.
Afterwards we had our traditional Easter Sunday breakfast, complete with mimosas. Yesterday I baked four dozen pecan rolls for the breakfast.

We seem to have been peculiarly ecumenical this year.
Joint Palm Sunday with the Anglicans on Palm Sunday (we take turn and turn about), Maundy Thursday with the Methodists (ditto), an interdenominational Walk Of witness on Friday, while several of our congregation went to yesterday's Easter Vigil in the Catholic Church next door.
Then a really good Family Service of our own today, following Communion at the breakfast table. Off tonight to preach at a little URC chapel in the country. [ 20. April 2014, 15:30: Message edited by: Baptist Trainfan ]

A sleepy Alleluia at the end of a long day, after a very busy week at work - but with a small, beautiful Easter Eucharist in our hospital chapel this morning.
Easter in a hospital community sends shivers down my spine every time. It's a place where Death always seems a little closer than in everyday life. But not today. Not today.
