This is a thread to allow us to note the difference in meaning a word is given by enclosing it in scare quotes.
Inspired by some posts in Hell, so I'm going to start by posting the definition of "debacle"posted there:
quote: Originally posted by lilBuddha: de·ba·cle diˈbakəl,-ˈbäkəl/ noun Meaning: One cannot defend one's position so then leaves pretending the moral high ground.

"May I ask you a personal question?"
I'm basically just telling you that I'm about to ask you a personal question. Saying "no" is not really an option.
"negative campaigns" (as a politician would complain about)
I really wish my opponents would quit talking about my failed policies.
"not angry, just disappointed"
I'm angry, but don't wanna sound beholden to petty emotions. [ 05. May 2014, 07:25: Message edited by: Stetson ]
