This is not a medical advice request so much as a bit of market research.
I have a problem with dry skin on my hands (age-related, genetic predisposition, so a question of management not cure). I use gloves a lot - principally the disposable vinyl ones used in catering. Slightly stronger are the ones used in medicine. But both kinds have the same pluses and minuses: they're light, flexible and waterproof. Downside is that they don't let moisture out, either, so impractical for lengthy use.
Cotton gloves, worn over vinyl, are good for gardening and the heavier sort of work that would shred the vinyl on their own. But too clumsy to wear for knitting or sewing or anything requiring fine touch.
Making impromptu finger stalls out of vinyl can work - still protective but less sweaty. But the vinyl hardens quite quickly on use.
I've been looking online at cotton and silk mesh gloves, which promise protection but flexibility. However they are quite expensive. Has anyone experience with them? Are they worth the money? Are there any other wheezes for protecting parts or all of the hands in a way that is tolerable for long periods (as in hours)?
