Terry Wogan died in the night. A household name, and whether one was a fan or not his R2 breakfast show could still provide the same sustainence as that first cuppa. Thanks Wog-ey .

I wasn't a Radio 2 listener, but I liked him and especially his take on the Eurovision. RIP Terry.

As I'm not at all a morning person, Terry's show was ideal for easing me into the day with a chuckle. I'll never forget him corpsing with laughter as he tried to read out the double entendres ridden Janet and John stories. And he made Eurovision a delight.

I wasn't a Radio 2 listener, but his early-evening chat shows on BBC1 during the 1980s were up there with the best - he could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the great Michael Parkinson.
RIP Sir Terry.

And once again the BBC are picking it up and running it with great enthusiasm ... more than 10 minutes as the top story on the main news bulletins last night, more than 24 hours later.
As I said on the David Bowie thread, the BBC do adore a good celebrity death.

I thought he was a great talent really. Beneath the cosy image, was somebody quite acerbic, yet affectionate. A very difficult tone to strike, but he nailed it. Asked about the TOGs (Terry's Old Geezers), and what defined them, he said, 'they're very fond of their lawn-mowers'.

He was one of their own, though.
