It's good to see some new reports.

However, this one can't be right. Surely they didn’t sing the Salve regina – that’s an evening song for outside Eastertide. Surely, as it was an Eastertide morning it was the regina coeli.

Regina Coeli or Salve Regina? That is for the MWer to clarify, of course. During Eastertide, the Regina Coeli is the norm - agreed. BTW the report was magnificent.

Salve Regina may not necessarily be confined as an evening hymn, nor does it necessarily have to be used outside Eastertide. In this Year of Mercy, at Westminster Cathedral anyway, the Hail Mary at the conclusion of the Prayer of the Faithful, is replaced by the Hail Holy Queen, at any time of day. I think I am right in saying that the Hail Holy Queen is being used in this way, even in Eastertide, but I will have to notice carefully next time.

At the Society of Mary annual May Devotion in London, at the end of the street procession after Mass, the Salve Regina is sung at the image of Our Lady back in church at the end and this is even in Eastertide.

I forgot to say that the Salve Regina is 'invariably' recited at the end of the Rosary, all the year round and at any time of day.

Whatever the anthem of Our Lady, it sounds absolutely wonderful, what catholic worship should be. No MOTR scruples about Our Lady, committed lay participation by the entire congregation (both in their singing and their silence), “a total feeling of recollection” and best of all, all that with a woman priest. I’d be there if I lived in Taunton.

To quote “This is a congregation who evidently take their worship seriously, but also with warmth and humility. The feeling of prayer throughout the service was quite incredible, almost Orthodox in style. If I were within an hour’s drive, I would make it my regular despite the UHT milk.” Like.

I notice the MWer also reported on a Baptist church in the same area very sympathetically and, I thought, fairly although clearly a very different sort of service.

I hope we have further reports from her/him in future.
