As the Ship will be in drydock on 4th July I'd wish the United States of America and our American shipmates congratulations on their country's 239 years and the very best of luck for the future.

And if you ever feel like joining the Commonwealth and, better still, converting your President to a Governor-General, I'm sure we'd be prepared to consider your application [Big Grin]

There is a meme which surfaces on the Internet whenever anything especially grody happens in the US, in which the Queen proclaims that, the US having been clearly unable to cope, she is taking us back into the Empire again. If the current event was notably nasty, there are always replies urging her to go for it.

Well, if you read Daphne duMaurier's "Rule, Britannia", it could go the other way! [Biased]

But thanks for the greetings. Happy 4th of July!

At least a part of our ABC's commemoration of the event was to play a recording of Garrison Keillor's telling us about Flag Day at Lake Wobegone, followed immediately by Souza's Stars and Stripes Forever

He seems to have a lot of that sort of stuff in his job description.
