I think most around the world have heard about a Canadian right-wing extremist shooting and killing Muslims at prayer in Québec. We are horrified.

I live more than 3000 km west. The gatherings here and elsewhere have been huge. The Islamic association had so many supportive emails that they couldn't receive them all.

I don't know what link to post, without traumatizing anyone else, so I post a positive one. CBC - acts of kindness.

It is said sometimes "God between us and evil". It isn't enough. We must stand against evil ourselves. Prayers aren't enough. We must all, everywhere, denounce, call out bad and extreme behaviour and talk.

If I figure out how to post the link, I will. Rex Murphy (who often angers me) had a heartfelt piece on last night's The National about what our reaction says about us as a nation.

I understand from friends in Newfoundland that, despite very snowy weather, there was a good turnout this evening at a "human shield" vigil at the St. John's mosque.

I'm glad to see that Canadians are being supportive: nobody should be in any danger while they're at prayer.

[Votive] for all affected.

Merci Pangolin Guerre.

Very large gatherings here. What happened isn't our way. What is happening now is.
