A space for anything that does not fit anywhere else on the ship, in the last 24 hours before the mad dash to be the first to board.

So things that do not fit on another thread, messages of thanks and ... well anything.

So cry fury and release the frogs of war.

Something musical perhaps?

"Jack was Every Inch a Sailor"

...being a careless Newfoundland retelling of Jonah and the whale.

What do you mean - change ships? Why wasn't I told about this?

It's amazing the old software has held out this long. Just a little bit longer now ....

So long and thanks for all the fun, friendship and forbearance.

See you aboard the shiny new Ship!

(I’m sure it will be more familiar than we expect)

Will we be piped aboard? I want to be piped aboard.

No, you'll get a safety drill and adverts for duty-free booze.

(One of the high points of my career doing voiceovers was to actually get to record one such announcement for a scheduled ferry service some years ago [Big Grin] )

Farewell to the old Ship and here's to the new!

Thanks for everything, you crazy bunch.

The more I frequented religious discussion boards on Facebook and other places, the more I realised just how unique and special the ship is. Can't wait for tomorrow, but it will be a little bit sad as well. It's been a blast!

This means I will no longer be on a board older than Facebook. Bye faithful old tub; hello bright newly painted Ship of Fools.
Cattyish, still floating.

To the old ship: So long, it's been good to know you

One of the posters I'll sorry to be saying goodbye to in moving on from these boards is ChristinaMarie. She had a quote from Closer to the heart by Rush on her sig towards the end of her posting here, and it just occurred to me that another verse would be appropriate for our move:
quote:
You can be the captain
And I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
Closer to the heart

And here's a spine-tingling Band Geek cover of the piece that I've just discovered [Smile]

Will this one be burned like the Bounty on Pitcairn Island?

I do feel I've learnt a lot by being here. The Ship opened my eyes to the kind of Christian trajectory that I didn't hear much about before, and that was outside my own experience.

My different perspective made my contributions less pertinent to the general flow here, I feel, but that's just the way things go. Most of all, I've appreciated the opportunity to communicate with some fascinating people.

Best wishes!

Three minutes. This is it: ground zero. Would you like to say a few words to mark the occasion?

If that's accurate I've stuffed up my time zones.

Posted by Gee D (# 13815) on :

I think it's either 4 or 6 am here, but am not sure because of summer time. In that brief gap when it's summer time neither here or the UK, there's a 10 hour time difference. So probably I'll be doing nothing until latish on Thursday afternoon as I don't trust my ability to make the change while I'm getting the train to work. Then busy early tomorrow morning I expect.

Something new to look forward to. I gave up altering my time in profile as things changed with DST. And back. About a week ago as I was posting on new Ship Hosts board, I saw that it recognised where I was, presumably from IP address and posted correctly, even allowing for DST which still has a month to run here till Easter Sunday.

I've still got an hour and forty minutes.

I've got the scotch.

14 hours and 37 minutes from now for everyone except the Admins, Hosts and those helping with the transition.

Whew! I thought that I had messed up my time calculations. Any likelihood that so many of us will rush on board at the first moment possible that we'll drown the Plimsoll mark?

Hoping for a smooth transition for all of us.

[Nervous because I have no idea what my password here might be and foresee all kinds of problems registering on a new board because my temperament is given to catastrophic thinking when it comes to change.]

Darn the torpedoes just doesn't sound the same... [Biased]

Goodbye, dear old Ship. I have loved you and all your mad, eccentric, wonderful denizens.

New Ship: God bless you and all who sail in you.

Just shy of 10 years on the old Ship, now looking forward to the new when my post count won’t look ridiculously low compared to other people’s (for a day or two at least!).

Still toying with changing my username when I embark on the new Ship; I’ve grown less and less fond of “Stejjie” as the years have gone on. Trouble is, I can’t think of anything better at the moment...

No time for last words- I’ve got 2.5 hours to run around the ship and get the last word in a handful of arguments for posterity’s sake, and I can’t afford to waist a second of it!

I'm actually getting excited about the new Ship and considered how I could mark it. The last person to be given Shore Leave was one possibility, but I shelved that. Anyway, I'll be back, in some shape or form, later today or tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.

No one worth getting Shore Leave for. Though, if the Facebook rumours are true, might be a way to mark the arrival of the New Ship...
