Yes, I know it's only half way through September, but I also know how long this takes to set up!
If anyone would like to take part, please pm me with your real name as well as your ship name, your address, and whether you want to send only to your own continent (ie N. America to N. America, Europe to Europe, Britain to Britain) or if you are happy to send anywhere in the world. Please also give me any special instructions - such as being allergic to particular things or having a special interest in something.
I will try and pair you, the Santee, with a suitable Santa. The idea is to chose a gift of approx Ł5 value (in the local currency) and send it to your Santee so it arrives before Christmas. (Pleasse remember you will have postage charges on top of the cost of your gift)
You therfore have until the last wek in October to register. I will then attempt to send out Santee's details the first week of November, giving prospective Santas time to get presents and post them. I know that last postage dates for some countries will be a bit tight even then, so this is why we need to start early!

I forgot to put this in my PM but maybe it makes less work for SG if we post this here?

I'm one of those people who needs things sent to my real name. I live in an apartment building and the postperson won't know what mailbox to put it in if there's a package addressed to la vie en rouge (I think this may be true for other people?)

You have until the end of October, so Earwig and Morth East Quine, you are OK.

When I send out details of Santees, I give the rl name as well as shipname - unfortunately, I thought that Robert Armin was a real life name a well as a ship name, and as a result poor Robert never got his present.

I'm still debating whether or not to join in this year. I am horrified to find that you didn't get a present after all the work you had put in. Is your would-be sender signing up again? Should they come with a warning?

I did try to send sardines, but they wouldn't stop wiggling about when I tried to tape the package shut. I'm sure the problem would have resolved itself eventually, but frankly I don't have that kind of patience.

No, elderkitty is somewhat confused anymore about what does and doesn't constitute an edible object; I awoke in the middle of the night to find that she had tried to eat a bird-shaped felt ornament off the Christmas tree.

I am not like so many more patient Ship Mates. My parcel arrived today and was opened immediately.

It is a lovely little wooden San Pasqual, the Kitchen Saint. He in from Santa Fe, via Sant Cruz. There was a hook awaiting him in the kitchen, but he will go on my tree, which will be decorated tomorrow by Weedlet, until Twelfth Night.

It is a really lovely object. Thank you, Santa.

*I have a close family friend whose loose deadline for sending Christmas cards is St. Patrick's Day. She's missed it before.
**"Please don't confiscate it, I checked your regulations, I swear it's all legal" doesn't fit in those little boxes they give you to write in.

My parcel is purchased, the wrapping paper is sitting on my table waiting, and the boy is poised for a run to the post office. It will undoubtedly arrive late - apologies to the person with a little space in their stocking as yet unfilled.. What is it about my life that it always seems to get traumatic when there are deadlines to meet?

IN other news, there is an enticing parcel sitting next to the hamster cage waiting for the big day before I can open it. My cat Charlie already loves it - it is a perfect cat-sized seat with prime viewing!

An enor-mouse package arrived for me yesterday! It contained many exciting parcels, and I'm being a good Earwig and leaving them until the 25th. Thank you, lovely French Secret Santa, you've spend lots of time and thought on this, I suspect! And the card is beautiful.

Oh, if you're my Santa, please don't be disturbed if you don't hear about your gift arriving. I'm travelling around over Christmas/New Year so there may well be a time lag between a gift arriving and me actually receiving it!

Nothing has arrived yet, obviously because Santa knows that "Ukrainian" (Orthodox) Christmas is observed hereabouts. (Typical Edmonton conversation: "Should we take down the office decorations yet?" Nah, let's leave them up for Ukrainian Christmas.")

No indication yet that my santee has received their gift. Canada Post is definitely getting coal in its stocking. [Disappointed]

Nor mine...but it was sent on the absolutely finally last possible day for posting packages to its particular destination...plus I actually missed the final collection from the post office due to avoiding the ginormous queue...but i still hoped that it might just have got to where it was going in time for Christmas.

The little felt tree is hanging on our large one, the knit sack will be the new home for my rosary, and the lovely hand stamped keepsake tin, is awaiting my treasures. I think I will be using it to hold postage stamps on my desk. I must have been very good this year to be treated to all the above and candy as well. PS when I opened the tin, youngest grandchild from across the room yelled CANDY, DID YOU GET CANDY GRAMMY? [Killing me] I did share, so thank you from me and the grandchildren.

A small financial nightmare meant that the parcel didn't make it into the post in time - however I'm now a bit more flush now my pay has gone into the bank and the parcel will be on its way as soon as my personal elf can make it to an open post office.

As for me, Santa has been very very kind and made me giggle a lot too this morning. I have malteser hot chocolate, rather good looking chocolates (which the boy reckons he's going to share.....), a groovy boggle-eyed purple pen, a rather gormless looking pump-action penguin torch, and the most wonderful, wonderful, wonderful penguin packed to the brim with marshmallows.

Thank you so so much.

I hope my parcel brings as much joy when it finally arrives at its destination.

Wow! I'd said I'd like something local to Santa. The customs slip said "candies" and "ceramics." "Candy" is one of those pond-difference words, so I couldn't wait to find out what "candy" might mean. It turns out it meant "cow tales" caramel (which I'm saving to show littlest god-daughter, who has a thing about cows), chocolate made with organic turbinado sugar, and creamed honey (which I'll open at breakfast tomorrow.)

The ceramics couldn't have been more local to Santa as they are hand-made! Wow! All lustrous and pretty!

It didn't stop there. The card was decorated and written in local ink, which has impressed the science-geek members of my family.

Thank-you thoughtful, arty and creative Santa!!

It occurs to me that I ought to put in a word for St Gwladys here. You may have noticed her absence from this thread for a few days - she was not having a hissy fit.

On Boxing Day, St G had an MS-induced fall (no alcohol was involved at all) and wrenched her (bad side) knee. This made walking difficult and uncomfortable.

On the night of 28th, she had a number of MS-induced spasms in the same leg, which did an even more thorough job of wrenching the knee joint and made walking painful and nigh impossible. Whilst we have a stair lift, the design of our house is somewhat odd - the lift delivers St G to a landing from whence two (rather shallow) steps take her to our bedroom, or a right-angle turn, a step, another right-angle turn, three more steps and a long landing take her to our computer room. She has slept downstairs in a recliner chair since Boxing Day and has not been able to reach her computer until today.

We have a "Cancer sucks" thread in Hell - believe me, I understand that, having watched both of my parents and both of St G's parents succumb to cancer - but I cannot claim to be too much of fan of MS, being forced to watch it slowly destroying my wife.

I came home tonight to a packet with a Royal Mail stamp. Tucked nside were a beautiful handmade card and an adorable crocheted plum pudding ornament, both of which I will display until Candlemas.

Many thanks, UK Santa! [Axe murder]

A mysterious parcel was in my letter box last night whihc turns out to be from someone who's been stalking me on the Ship and knows I love Taizé…

I'm mildly alarmed tho, because this is the second present I've received. This is obviously very nice for me, but if I have two presents, does that mean someone else is going to get no presents?

I'll give it to the end of January - according to my records, there are 5 people who haven't received:
Hugal
Rowen
Sophs
Keren-Happuch
Adrienne

There are also a few people who I'm assuming have recieved but who haven't posted on the thread to say they have/haven't received

I did post a little while back to say I've received. We were away so didn't get the parcel till Epiphany, but received with thanks!

And thenthere were 4 - or possibly 5 as one person hasn't replied to my pms [Mad]

Hugal still hasn't received anything.

(His mum is not well so he is currently visiting her in the Land Of No Wifi.)

Yes, according to my records, Hugal, Rowen, Sophs and Adrienne are still waiting. I haven't heard from Fooloftheship and he hasn't replied to my pms, so I'm assuming he has received.

I'm sorry St Gwladys [Hot and Hormonal] [Confused] I don't have a private message. Have received and purchased, but weather and job have got in the way of posting. Will be going to my santee with huge apologies either tomorrow or Saturday. No thanks yet posted, as I won't be opening mine until I've sent my santee's.

I think I may have the answer. I went to try and send you a PM on the same subject, but it said I couldn't send another one to you until you'd read my previous reply. I'm just about certain that you have, so it would appear that the ship's software has hiccupped.

Santa's most gifted procrastinator has finally bestirred himself, and offerings are on their way to my santee.

Many thanks to my secret santa - the dragons will probably find their way to work to guard my desk....as will the penguin of doom!

Still not got anything from Santa [Frown] A nicely fragile parcel was posted 2 weeks ago from Bradford and is on it's way to sunnier climes!

My present came today. Thanks to Santa for a Rev Elations book and some chocs. The chocs came as a pair and I did give one to Gill H.

Can I add, as a grateful recipient of one of the Booja Booja raspberry truffles, that Santa evidently has great taste in chocolate.

Early Valentines Day Santa sent me some lovely earings from Santa Cruz, which included a lovely note, and an extra word in my address which may be why there is a parcel lost in the mail!

Many thanks to a wonderful lady!

And given Easter is relatively early this year, hopefully the Penguin is thinking about it already??
