Just posted my five thousandth post in circus without realising until Deputy Verger pointed it out.

[Big Grin]

Two point five years on board (three months off when I was banned) makes it about six posts a day. [Eek!]

I love this ship. [Yipee]

Which makes my mere 5.63 per day look positively prosaic.

Just gone over 1000. I've been here a little longer than Evensong, so that makes it about a post a day.

And running only 100 times slower my two and a half years have notched up 50 with this post - so I'm very nearly a shipmate. I might have to double post and have a double celebration!

At this rate I'll be neck and neck with Mousethief in another 2,500 years - or perhaps not.

If my math is correct that comes out to about 0.8 posts per day.

Yes, I realize that post 2,332 is, while palindromic, only enough to qualify me for 125th place on the top post count list. Mousethief, you're safe.
However, I did realize while PMing my not-so-secret santa earlier today that it's been six years since I joined the Ship. Even with my (rather long) hiatus, that's a long time!
Happy anniversary to me, then!

Not really a post count, but I realise I have been on board for ten years on 14th.

I would like to explain my pathetically low post count in this time by referring to the time taken up by my dazzling career, the pressures of relentless world travel and my amazingly high-profile social life. Or maybe I just don't have much worth saying most of the time [Big Grin]

Anyhows, still here, still enjoying it, still thanking God for all my fellow shipmates [Smile]

I don't think it is a good thing: I spend far too much time on forums generally. However, my other two Christian forums are a very good one where everyone knows everyone else well, but rather small, so there's often nothing new to answer; and a bigger one which is just too bonkers for words, and which I've more or less given up in favour of this one.

I may not post that much but I'm here practically every day, just can't think of anything much intelligent to say most of the time. (And yes I know there are some posters who don't let that stop them! [Razz] )

However this is a good opportunity to say how much I appreciate this community and the discussions that go on in it. The period since I joined the Ship has been a time of reflection and rethinking of a lot about myself, faith and life in general. Discussions here have opened up all kinds of avenues that have been helpful in that process and for that I thank you all.

And this is post #5,000 for me! Woohoo!

For those who are wondering, this puts me in the top 200 posters of all time (#171, actually, 18 posts between member number 174, tomb), and 9.3% of the way to reaching mousethief's current post count.

Good luck with that! [Biased]

Congrats!

Not a post count, but an anniversary.

On this date in 2001, I made my very first post... in Hell. [Two face]

@^%&^@%*&@^#$(&^!@&^$!!!!!!!!!

When I noticed I had 50 to go, I had planned to celebrate my 6666 post! Now I shall have to wait another 59931 posts for the next such sequence.
Likely not as long as I think, in 1.5 years, I have gone from page 13 to page 6. And again, well ahead of many I thought more frequent posters.
And I thought I had some semblance of a life... [Frown]

Good job all! I shall never catch Mousethief: methinks he has a computer at work and is somebody's boss! I don't and I am not. I also own a television set in good working order....

Sir Kevin,

All one needs is a smartphone and one can post anywhere, at any time and, oh wait, this might not be a good thing. [Hot and Hormonal]

I wish I could remember what my first post was. And where.

All I know is that, as time went by, the Quizmaster, with his word association thread, had a lot to answer for...

If you ever find yourself reading the code test thread in the Styx (not proud to admit that I have done that) you usually see MT testing things there. Which is not only good practice, especially if, like MT, you change your sig quite a bit, but a good way to get your post count up, if you ever want to catch him.

I passed 5 figures and completely missed the magic moment. Oh well. Decimal counting is overrated.

I hit 4000 two posts ago.

The post before this one was 444.
After 12 years I seem to have some way to go...

MMMM!

Posted by Welease Woderwick (# 10424) on :

I've just noticed that I passed 36,000 probably sometime over the weekend - only 18,000+ behind mousethief!

Posted by piglet (# 11803) on :

Still pretty impressive, Wodders - keep on woddering! [Yipee]

Given his rate, I expect that he will surpass Mousethief by Christmas, 2014.

Just slipped past 600 there. I really need to play more in the Circus. I would like to see that number top four figures one day but I don't think I can make 400 highly intelligent and meaningful Purg posts...

Posted by lilBuddha (# 14333) on :

That's not stopped anyone else...

I've managed well over 8000 without being intelligent or meaningful anywhere, let alone in Purg. [Big Grin]

3000 in two years! Is that 30 a week? Oh Gordon Bennett, I am sorry, I am old, and gnarled and gaga, and the emissions of my mouth now outrun me.

Posted by L'organist (# 17338) on :

1155 in 14 months - is that too many? Depending on topics covered it could be considered to be too few.

{the pedant in me would like to suggest that perhaps "Who posts too often..." would be more accurate and better usage} [Biased]

Which Gordon Bennett?

Posted by Barefoot Friar (# 13100) on :

According to my calculations, this should be post 1000!

[Big Grin]

ETA: Seven years. Not too bad, really.

By my reckoning, this should be 9000.

[Eek!]

It does indeed, Wodders - I've just looked back and, having joined the Ship in September 2006, I hit 7000 posts in July 2012 - just over 1000 per year - and I've added another 2000 since then.

I've found since becoming a host that I post on threads in AS that I wouldn't have thought about before, like the American and Australian ones, but when I'm reading them I sometimes find I've got something* to say.

* Not necessarily something meaningful, you understand - just something ... [Big Grin]

I can identify with that!

I am currently at about 36,500 and I doubt 500 of them have been deeply meaningful.

15,000! That's about 5-6 a day for a little under 9 years. Whatever did I do with that time before?

Congratulations, B62! [Smile] You have been busy - your start date was only a year and a half before mine, but you've racked up more than half as many posts again as I have.

[Overused]

eta: Then again, A Certain AS Colleague has only be aboard a year longer than I have, and posted nearly four times as much ... [Big Grin]

I've hardly been busy on the Ship and have taken several long breaks, but somehow here I am at 10,000.

I have done some calculations on those who come onto the first page when users are sorted by number of posts. This gives people's daily post score:
Welease Woderwick 12.24
Mousetheif 12.10
Sir Kevin 9.81
Ken 9.08
Chorister 7.36
Marvin the Martian 7.31
PeteC 6.33
Kelly Alves 6.28
Comet 5.39
Alan Cresswell 5.31
Sioni Sais 5.14
Zappa 4.99
RuthW 4.92
Lyda*Rose 4.91
Mamacita 4.58
Ariel 4.33
Sine Nomine 4.15
Jengie Jon 4.00
Moo 3.80
Laura 3.67

Therefore at present posting rates Welease Woderwick is likely to overtake Mousetheif about New Year 2021!

Jengie
