I love these special dates, my passport was dated 7.7.77.

When I saw 11.11.11.11.11.11, I thought it was going to be a question about a very unusual hymn metre!
At 11 past 11 this morning, we were just finishing our short remembrance service in the hospital chapel. Good turnout, and really rather moving that about a dozen members of staff used some of their break time to come.

At 11 past 11, I was walking a group of school children back from our local Remembrance Day service. There weren't many people there; it's not a public holiday here, and is overshadowed by ANZAC Day. But most of those present were children, so hopefully the waste and futility of war won't be forgotten.

Having had the luxury of a day off work I had a lie-in and read a chapter of my book, dozed and then got up. I'm not sure I can say precisely but at 11:11 I was either in my shower or spreading cream cheese on my toast and pouring coffee.

I was actually cleaning out a patient's tracheostomy tube at the hospital where I work. Unpleasant but necessary job. Everything at the hospital paused at 11am to listen to the ode over the PA, hold one minute's silence, repeat lest we forget, then it was back to work.

I was still telling a young office trainee what was the significance of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Apparently he quit history before they did the first world war at school. He also though Armistice Day "celebrated" the Vietnam War as well as the Second World War (not a mention of the Great War, Korea or the Falklands let alone any of the other wars he could have picked from).

I was at work, writing a rather tedious report.
The Netherlands didn't participate in WWI, so the day doen't have as much meaning to me (except for children going through the streets with paper lanterns for St. Martin's Day).

Leaving the lecture room where our war memorial is situated in uni. after having had our act of remembrance. First time we'd actually done it, as I recall: I don't think we knew the plaque was there - it's normally hidden by a grand piano.
Yes, it is an odd lecture room!

The office radio went fussy, and someone noticed it was 11.00 and said that it was likely to be for the silence. We all stopped what we were doing and kept silent for about a minute - OK, not the full 2 minutes, but this is the first office I've worked in where everyone has observed the silence.

At an intense daytime choir rehearsal for the Brahms Requiem performance next week. The normal choir director wasn't there, but the Bulgarian genius pianist may have been even tougher. She pulled nuances out of the movements as if it were Holy Scripture. My children, as usual, sat in a corner quietly doing their school work first, and then playing on their game units.

I was at the town square, at the service... The biggest crowd ever- about 70, including several tourists, with cars and caravans, who stopped to join us.
As the only minister in town, I was leadings prayers, and laid a wreather from church.
It was a lovely time...

I was helping to organise the laying of memorial crosses at our local Remembrance event, with about 370 people present. Good turnout of active service members as well as the few remaining WW2s.
There were at least 6 ministers present, but the event was run by two Anglican layreaders.

As Remembrance Day is a public holiday here, I was having a lie-in, although I heard the marching band going down to the War Memorial and the gun marking the start of the two minutes' silence.
Like lots of other people, I'll do my remembering on Sunday at church.

I was helping tidy up after a playgroup in the village hall and watching Malinette and Malino running up and down with the other kids as we cleared the floor.
