We have two days until Lent, so the hosts & admins are having a period of fun and madness. It's H&A Carnival - anything could change whilst the hosts and admin people enjoy themselves by moving things in random ways for a while. Check the Styx each day for a notice on when things are back to normal!

It's rather unfortunate that that important chap in Rome has chosen now to announce his resignation. Now lots of new visitors might come reading the boards and completely misconstrue posts like

Given the current War on Hull, that may not be a bad idea.

And comrades, there are two, and only two, sides in this war; it is a war between good and Hull, between the Velodrome and utter, depraved evil. Join us, the mighty of the Velodrome, as we crush the den of inequity that is Hull once and for all.

Dear H/As:

It's been great fun. It's very difficult to share a sense of it with Mr Vulpior; normally I can say, "In a thread about x, someone said this which was funny/witty/incisive," but saying, "It's all gone crazy and here's some of it," doesn't work so well!

The green warning across the top of the home page is just the right level of advice, too, thinking back to previous discussions. Good call.

The GIN thread in Eccles ended up being entertaining and informative. Could it perhaps be moved to the appropriate board for its subject matter (Heaven? Though I'm probably not a good judge of that) and re-opened, please?

Just a small request. On one of the threads, Enoch said that as it was now Wednesday, the fun and games would be over. The trouble is that here and in NZ, it was by then Thursday. In other words, the party day had included our Ash Wednesday. Could future days be organised to avoid clashes like this please?

We deliberately kept going until the end of Shrove Tuesday in the USA, so that our American friends could have all the benefit of the festival as well.

We'd rather go on too long for some people than stop too soon for others. That's just the way it is.

No I did not but previously they have not fitted with the season. I can see when there is a possibility of a pattern and being a Non-conformist where as the joke goes what you do twice is traditional, I did not want a tradition to happen by accident.
