Yay for bath safety month. Maybe I should take an unbreakable mug of tea to drink in my bath instead of the glass of wine I was planning.

References to Boy Scouts are USA specific. We don't have "Boy Scouts" here in the UK. They're known simply as "Scouts.
We've never had "Girl Scouts" in this country either.

A slight hiccough has occurred, the 10th March is a Tuesday and therefore cannot be the 4th Sunday in Lent. Having checked with The Independent and the more customary BBC page, I think you are five days early.
I know most inconsiderate of these Christians to have festivals that are set by the moon and the day of the week rather than being strictly calendrical.

16th March is indeed a Monday. Mothering Sunday is on the 15th. I would also point out that Mothering Sunday isn't just in the UK as stated. It's a worldwide festival in the church calendar.
March the 8th may well be the beginning of Daylight Saving Time in the USA, but not necessarily in other parts of the world [ 01. March 2015, 16:09: Message edited by: Spike ]

Aha! Since he's not posted in so long (which he is eager to change once he gets his password sent to his current e-mail address) he is not eligible for a birthday mention this time. But next year! ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Why not just link to an online almanac (or small set of almanacs) and have shipmates post their own birthdays as they come up ?
It looks like this thread must be quite onerous for you to maintain.

Sounds like a plan. Let's give it a try!

MB, rather than using the Almanacs to pick out dates to create a list, how about posting links to the Almanacs but letting Shipmates select the Feast Days from them they want to highlight? Less work / stress for you as well as for the All Saints Hosts - – Win!
Also, if Shipmates want their birthday / anniversary or any other day of note mentioned on that thread, then they post it. No post, no mention. Less work for you and also helps keep the thread current. Less editing for the All Saints Hosts – Win!

So it's St Patrick's day - *waves to various Irish shipmates* - I don't get why it celebrates the day he was enslaved though. Surely, if some one was going hold a celebration in your honour you'd want it the day you were freed ?

That's the date the website started. Ship of Fools had been around for a long time before that.
I should also point out that the correct title is simply "Ship of Fools" - there's no "The" in the title.

Apparently today, April 14, is International Be Kind to Lawyers Day.
I'm a non-practising lawyer, but am still willing to receive gifts of chocolate.
Don't all rush.

I used to work for a firm of lawyers, and I think it would have been more appropriate for them to have a "be kind to your typist" day".
