Number 256
LOT 11

Much revered by the Geek Community, 256 is 2 to the power of 8. Eight bits – a byte – make up a unit of information. It's the way all those 1s and 0s lying around our computers are bundled up so that they'll do something useful. The first personal computer had 256 bytes of RAM. It used an 8-bit processor – it was programmed a byte at a time. And now 256 can be yours.

Number 333
LOT 12

The three musketeers... the Three Stooges... the three little pigs... gold, frankincense and myrrh... Good things come in threes, they say, although bad things also do, such as buses and neuroses. So why not have a [dated cultural reference alert] close encounter of the third kind with our most trinitarian membership number.

Number 777
LOT 13

While other numbers are boring or sinister, 777 is nice, virtuous, lucky, blessed... take your pick. Seven is a good number – God rested from all his creating on the 7th day, there are 7 Roman Catholic sacraments, 7 colours of the rainbow, 7 points on a sheriff's star, and... er... 7 deadly sins. Think of 777 as a maxed-out 7.

Number 999
LOT 14

"Which emergency service are you calling?" is what Brits hear when they dial 999, and the same is true in Hong Kong (but apparently nowhere else on the planet). Sadly, we're not offering the infamous No. 666 in this auction, but turn your monitor upside down if need be, and start bidding.

Number 1000
LOT 15

In honour of our 10th millennium, we're selling our first, so this is your one and only chance to own membership No. 1000, which was first registered in July 2001, just two months after the boards opened (those were the days: 1,000 new members in two months!). Be a millenialist... bid for 1000 and prepare for rapture!
