I bravely (for someone of much higher churchmanship than GC is made out of) visited Lessons and Carols last night at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. My overwhelming impression of it was that the acoustics are horrible. I could hardly hear the choir and organ, the congregational singing was out of sync because of echoing delays, and even the people reading the lessons via microphone were hit and miss as to being able to hear them. Is this a common complaint for Grace Cathedral-that the acoustics are crappy?

Grace Cathedral has been Mystery Worshipped six times (I just did all the links -- and then hit the wrong key and deleted them all! You'll find them in the MW archives.) Doing a quick read through all of them, I only noticed one of them mentioned the bad acoustics, even listing them as a reason to feel like being in... er... the other place and a reason not to make the Cathedral his regular place of worship.

As someone who wrestles with a pad with horrendous acoustics any such church has my deepest sympathy ...
