Agonisingly I can't make it. Lost my job last week, so can't afford the travel. When I'm a bit more wealthy, I shall pop over to the big smoke and raise a glass or 10 to his Gambitness's good name.
Good to see so many people going, and also so many familiar names (Hi Ken, Dave & Maddie, Sophs, Spike-I'm-a-labour-supporter-get-me-out-of-here, and Sir Tony of K).
DON'T SPARE THE MALTS!

Unfortunately, it looks as though we will not be venturing forth on this occasion.
We will however raise a glass back in Hampshire, to Gambit's memory.

Hmm, I have to meet people at the Ritz at 6.30 (fairly sure I should interject 'dahlings' here in an ironic tone - be reassured that I don't normally go around drinking in the Ritz) but if I could be sure that there would be people around, the Sanctuary is sort of on the way and I could drop in and raise a glass in Gambit's memory.
(Might be overdressed though!)
Otherwise, sorry I can't make it and have a good time.

I should be there, but I have managed to crack three ribs ('tis a long but slightly amusing story, so long as they're not your ribs), so please don't make me laugh too much and please can I have a seat by a corner or a wall or something?
This post was brought to you by the word "ow."

Nice glasses of water are my current beverage of choice!
(I've lost the destructions for my painkillers, so can't remember if I can drink whilst taking them, so have decided to err on the side of caution)...

I'm in town already - had to work today - so I intend to be there a bit earlier than my normal 9-ish start time. So maybe I'll see some of you I often miss.
Of course the downside of that is that with 4 hours in the pub instead of my usual 2, by 11 I'll be most squiffy...

Hmm, a double post. Am I the first back home?
On my way there, I expected Gambit to be waiting as usual - a very odd experience.
A very good meet, with loads of shipmates and we took over the upper space. And it was nice walking down to Victoria with a mini-crowd.
My bus was on the correct side of the Edgeware Road - there was some kind of Kurdish party (a wedding??) on the southward side, all over the road, dancing men in fancy, elegant wear, drums, singing, cars hooting in rythym, and all the traffic jammed and unable to move for miles. Fun to pass it by on the bus, and to dodge an ambulance whizzing down our side of the road as there was no way it could travel on the left. ![[Help]](graemlins/help.gif)

It was a good meet with plenty of old faces and some new ones.
I was first there and managed to spread myself and belongings over 2 tables in anticipation of a crowd of shipmates (what is the collective term ?).
Gradually we managed to fill the tables, then the whole upper area, including some furniture rearrangement so people could move around and chat easily - but which made counting heads tricky (I think there were 27 of us at one stage).
Then again that should be 28 as a certain someone was there in spirit - if not in Fuller's ESB

A crew, surely?
Sorry I vanished quite so precipitately, I needed to renew my acquaintance with the big friendly bottle of painkillers the nice doctor prescribed me, and also I wanted to be sure of getting home before chucking out time. (Even so, someone nearly sat on me on the bus)...
There will be photos. I don't know what they'll be like, taking pictures with one hand is a tricky business (especially when you keep confusing the "off" button and the "take the picture" button), and also I'm still trying to learn what my new camera does.
But it was good to see everyone.

I'm finally awake again after getting home in the wee small hours of the morning. I must have had too much to drink because we stopped for kebabs on the journey home.
It was great to see so many people - sorry I didn't get around to speak to everyone. I figured if everyone moves around we all end up moving together, some people need to stay in one space and let the others move around them. I enjoyed catching up with those I knew and meeting a few new people. Hope to see you all again soon.
I thought the evening was a fitting tribute to Gambit.

Ah well, trust a Hellhost .
As was said before: a fitting tribute to James. It was good meeting so many new people as well, though it was quite worrying how many people said variations of "you don't look scary enough for a Hellhost" to me over the course of the evening. Note to self: work harder on appearance...

Sorry - should have made it a bit clearer!
Not the most obvious of places to click - but it's what the free Zoomshare service sets up and I haven't yet worked out how to change it (or even if it is possible to do so).

I am quite possibly the least photographic person in the universe. I have never understood why this is, however.
If you think the day-to-day eyeliner is scary, Tony, just be glad that you've never seen me when I'm all ready for a night out! , etc.
The tart thing was indeed very funny. No hard feelings Doris darling, I'd have done exactly the same thing if it had been the other way around, as you know full well! And I am, after all, the Ship's Wench (or will be soon, at any rate!)
