Whew! Thanks for results on the sonogram that showed that I do NOT have deep vein thrombosis in my calf. Now they will try to find out what is really wrong, but at least I'm not likely to pop off this weekend from a rogue clot in my lungs. Thanks be to God!

With my posting to the Prayers thread I tend to forget about this Praise and Thanksgiving thread. When I give thanks for an answered prayer I tend to do it on the Prayer thread. So I'm just stopping by to give thanks to God for Her/His many goodnesses, and to offer praise. In particular I offer thanks for being surrounded by friends and family both physically present and connected via the internet. [ 29. July 2013, 02:36: Message edited by: malik3000 ]

I am utterly delighted that I have a new job. It's in a slightly more specialised sector of the field I've been working in for the last few years, and seems to be a good use of almost all the skills I possess.
I am utterly gob-smacked that it only took the one attempt to get a job once I'd decided it was more than time to be brave and go for it.
Thanks and praise are indeed due!

Thank God that yesterday went well - travelling across the country to visit my mother in hospital, there were several points which could have been tricky but all went smoothly. I am especially grateful to the conductor on the train who was so helpful and also for the high standard of nursing care my mother is receiving.

Some months ago on the prayer thread I mentioned a 6 year old with leukemia - I heard yesterday that he is doing really well, the doctors want him to have one more month of treatment just to make sure but then he can be released home!
Plus I got a phone call late last night from a friend in England who is at best an intermittent communicator - he is doing fine, had another promotion, doing another course and looking forward to retirement in another couple of years. We have been friends for A Long Time so it was really good to hear.

Visiting Cat, who came to us scrawny, terrified, and socially inept, has filled out and chilled out.
He is afraid of hands, and hates to be touched; but I was playing with him this week and he reached out and batted my hand *twice*.
I thought he would hate me because I put a flea treatment on his neck last night while I was asleep. Today he came in, saw me on the sofa, and after careful consideration actually climbed up and sat on the extreme opposite end of the same sofa I was sitting on. And then I got up and moved around several times and he didn't even bother fleeing in terror.

Tentatively praising,as I hope God won't take it back...
I have expressed before that I ahve a huge problem with hypervigilance-- specifically, I am very noise sensitive under certain circumstances. It has been making studying or working in a public place-- as I am often forced to do-- a nightmare.
I have been assualting it with prayer lately, put it in the God Box, etc.
Lately I have been noticing that it takes me a lot longer to get annoyed by ambiant noice while I am writing. for instance, I have been working at the school computer lab for the last 2 hours, and for the first hour two very young students were chattering beside me. It took me most of that hour to even notice they were there, and when I did I was just kind of-- oh, people there, and went back to work.
May sound like something little but it is huge for me.
Praise God.
My goal now is to be able to work in a live music venue without looking up.

Enormous thanks for what happened yesterday, well not for the actual accident, to the following:
God; The guy driving the motor scooter; The guy who owns the motor scooter who looked after me so well; The owner and staff of the card shop who took me in and made me sit quietly; The doctors, nurses, radiographers at both hospitals I visited; Himself and Herself; and God, again.
eta: and even the drug companies, I know it is easy to mock them but they make some great products. [ 21. September 2013, 07:21: Message edited by: Welease Woderwick ]

I'm just copying this from my latest post on the Prayers thread because I am so happily grateful
I give thanks that my latest scans were good. No growth of metastases in my lung at all even though I have not had any kind of treatment going on 3 months. I was diagnosed nearly 2 years ago -- a handful of years ago that would have meant that statistically speaking I should have been dead by now. God, you are so good!

The Ship has sailed some distance since I last posted here, and I arrive back in good company, judging by the last few posts. After a frightening encounter with Interferon that had to be stopped due to the side effects, the recovery has been strong. The support of a group of friends has meant a lot to me. One friend stayed with me during treatment at the chemo suite at the hospital two weeks after his sister had died of cancer - that was courage of a high order. So once again, I give thanks to God and his people who have travelled with me to the point where I may soon be able to describe myself as healed, if not cured, and an ex-cancer patient.

Regarding the surgery I was worrying about on the prayer thread last week, while there was some minor aggravation with the exact time changing, it went off mostly as scheduled.
It looks like I lost a knife-fight (8 little laproscopic incisions, and one larger bandage over my belly-button), and the first couple hours after surgery were No Fun, but it went fine, and I was released from the hospital next day. Mr. Otter assures me that I'm recovering well, and each day I feel a little better.
Thanks to everyone who prayed for me!
