Gwai, I hope he establishes a settled patter of sleeping through.
My thanks to the Methodist Church of New Zealand for running retirement villages where caring is much more than an empty word.

After many years of mending bridges, blood sweat and tears, hard slog from two diamond geezers and most of all the mercy and the grace of God....tomorrow is the last Sunday in our church builidng as it is now.
Next week the builders come in!
And we will go back into a very different building

Sunday
My toilet started leaking, and it has been a PAIN to fix.
So thanks for the plumber I found, who came out promptly on Sunday evening and stopped it leaking with a temporary repair and then came back yesterday to do a proper repair only the repair was jinxed. He finally got it working this evening. If something could go wrong it did including him having purchased a new but faulty syphon.
The charge rate for the amount of work he put in was very reasonable.

I am thankful that I have (at last) been discharged from hospital, and that all seems well with baby who will hopefully bake for a bit longer before making an appearance. And eternally grateful for the NHS and its staff.

I can't believe no-one has had anything to be thankful for, so here goes - it's a beautiful day and I feel (as I sometimes do) that I am the most undeservedly blessed person ever.
Thank you God for all you do for me every day.

oh yuk, I'm rather regretting this cooking image now!
It went from jack's talk of "baking"--her bun in the oven!!--to these rather unsavoury connotations...
I meant: more time for the baby to grow to a healthy weight and size and be ready to be born.
Thank God that this time has been afforded--every day in utero is precious and will have made a difference.
Rest, Jack! Feet up, relax.

Don't worry Cara, it's not bothered me at all and made me smile
I'm thankful every day for the medical and midwifery staff looking after me. I had my moans at the start of the process, and we had a bit of a sticky time getting used to each other (it turns out I'm not the easiest patient), but I think we have good relationships now and I am confident I am in good hands. I have so much to be thankful for, and my heart goes out to those elsewhere in the world who don't have the same (or indeed any) services.

Sorry if I sounded critical, Piglet--it wasn't personal, I just suddenly felt queasy at the idea of JtL's precious cargo as a lump of meat!
Anyway, we are doing a great job of keeping this thread bumped up and away from Hostly brooms.
Because Praise and Thanksgiving are important.
I give continued thanks for the improved circumstances of my three adult children, for all of whom I've asked for prayer on the prayer thread in the past.

Choral Matins today - lovely.
Choir sang well, good numbers in the congregation, complimented after on my choice of hymns .
Wedding couple afterwards totally clueless (see HELL) but did afford some amusement, even if of the gritted teeth variety - and, as always, we'll do our best for them.

My son D, who has been having a particularly difficult time at work, has had some much appreciated kindness from others in his department. His boss is still determined to make his last 5 weeks as miserable as possible - even so,it has felt a less lonely road for D this week. Thank God - and thanks for those who prayed with me.

I have been racking my tiny excuse for a brain looking for a suitable gift for a certain very hard to buy for friend for Christmas and then a post here on the ship gave me an idea and a Google showed that I can get it here in India! It is now ordered and will, hopefully, arrive in time.

It might be too soon but ...
Eldest Son has work until Xmas and, after someone purporting to be their landlord tried to force entry on Saturday, they completed a move out of there and into a larger, tidier house at about 11pm yesterday with Mrs Sioni doing 4 runs in our car because the van they hired had to go back at 6pm.
They were grateful, we were pleased to help, the electricity and gas work. Even the combi-boiler was working when we left last night!

Thank you for posting that - you are over a year ahead of me in the same adventure, Malik. It's good news to share, and great encouragement to others. I've given a lot of thanks lately to God and to the people whose hands he guides, and to other cancer patients who are able to laugh in the face of it and live joyfully.

My daughter has finally moved from Cumbria to down south and has just got a much-needed job - only part time but it's a start, and as it's a short walk away from her new house involves no travel!
And my slight 'trouble' (which I posted on the prayer thread) was investigated at the hospital last week, and thankfully turns out to be very minor.
Deo gratias!

I got an e-mail and then a follow up phone call today from the local Foreigners' Regional Registration Office to say my visa conversion has been approved and will I please take my passport and about Rs 8,000* [eighty pounds] to their office and I will get my papers! I have booked an appointment for Friday morning.
*Heaps cheaper than flying off somewhere and applying for another tourist visa then flying back again. I am paying off the last of my credit card next week when my pension is paid so will reward myself with the new camera I have been eyeing for a while.

My prayer that our friend Joseph and his family that will have no place to live after Christmas because their "Grinch" landlord put them out. Well, rentals are hard enough to find in the winter anywhere, but around here, it is ridiculous. And having dogs, well, how about making it even WORSE!
I have a guesthouse and the Lord just put it on my mind to move them in there. Now, I have to get energy to do some cleaning out. (Lord, give me strength)

Eldest son is recovering well from major back surgery to replace a very damaged disc and to fuse lowest part of spine. Hopefully this will see the end of the extreme pain he has been in. Surgeon is very pleased.
First operation two years ago worked for a few months and things went downhill from there.

I am so thankful that eldest son has no pain and that the large stomach incision for his back operation is healing well. He is off the horse tablet sized antibiotic tablets he took twice a day for nine months for a supposed bone infection. No infection. He is off the cocktail of very nasty drugs which only partially controlled the pain in back for months and months. They affected his temper and personality,
In fact, he is off all painkillers.
Home and recuperating and he's also extremely grateful.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you God.
A few months ago I moved jobs. Driving home from my last day at my old job, I cried with worry and unhappiness about one particular set of siblings - I had grounds to believe they were suffering serious abuse, but I hadn't been able to obtain enough firm evidence to get a court order for them to be placed in foster care.
Today I heard on the grapevine that these children are now in foster care. I know the foster care system is far from perfect, but for these children it is a significantly better option than an abusive birth parent / step-parent.
I am so relieved and thankful.

Zoey, a few months ago I met up with a guy who had been in a children's home where I worked in the 70s and he said that coming to the home, imperfect as it was, was far better for him that remaining at his family home.
That made the whole career choice thing worthwhile.

I give thanks today for an enormous improvement in the health and happiness of all three of my adult children, for whom I've asked prayer here before. The one who had a potentially life-threatening condition now seems healed, and various issues in the lives of the other two are resolved or resolving.
I am so grateful for these healings.
