Here at the beginning of the New Year, now underway in the east, we bring our prayers before God.
Once again I begin with the prayer used last year:
My God, my Creator, my Redeemer, my Love Spirit pervading all creation, of which I am a part Spirit which moves within me and unites me to that whole May we grow towards unity May we help each other in our daily needs, earthly, spiritual and emotional May I learn to have compassion for myself and others May I be open to the promptings of the Spirit So that we all may live in peace and love and rejoice in the glory of creation. Let it be so.

Holding us all in the living, loving Light.
...and thinking right now of P, a sad little 10 year old who insisted to his parents that he wanted to change to an English medium course at school, this was at the start of the academic year last June. They have just had their mid-year exams and he has failed every single subject - he's a bright little thing but right now he is a sad little thing, too.

Please pray for my friends, the Patain family. At the beginning of November A lost her father very suddenly, unable to get to speak to him before he died. I have just heard that G's father has died today, again before G was able to speak to him. It had not been completely unexpected - papa had pancreatic cancer and TBH, had been in a bad state, but it was still a shock.
G and his 2 brothers do not get on, and there is likely to be some accusations, guilt, bad feeling and problems as they sort out the legalities of the French inheritance.
The children have lost two grandfathers in a short space of time, and so this has not been a festive season for them. Please hold them to our loving father.

for P and hoping all goes better for him in the new year.
My wife and I could use your prayers right now. Some malicious idiots threw a firework at our flat window in the early hours of Monday morning and it exploded, blowing one of the smaller panes* in. Luckily, the flames didn't set anything alight and noone was hurt, but we were (and are) frightened.
Last night was fine but we're on edge and worried as there will be loads of fireworks going off tonight. Every bang is going to be a shocker, I think.
*the smaller panes are still about 3 X 1.5 feet.

For jedijudy's continued recovery. For P, and for the blessing of being a ten year old who can bounce back from disappointment. For the Patain family. Too much sadness in too little time. For Sherwood and wife. Under the circumstances, it is probably too much to hope for a peaceful night, but I pray that the idiots won't throw the fireworks against your home.
As an update, my niece delivered a new little Hoglet today (still Dec. 31st here). 5lbs, 3 oz. He is about a month early. Baby and mother okay. Thank you all for your prayers.

Barbara died this morning. 43 years ago I was admiring her wedding dress. She told me to wait til she got the cover off.
She wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but those who were her friends stayed friends, through better, through worse. Pray for her husband (an even older friend) and their two boys, my godsons.

I'm feeling highly anxious about a potential health issue which could be serious or could be minor. Hoping to see the doctor next week. But in the meantime need to not be consumed with anxiety and need to be able to sleep better than I did last night. I really hope it is not the serious option. That would be very complicated to deal with in our current situation.

I've just noticed there were a large proportion of Christians on the AirAsia flight QZ8501 - including 41 from a single church. I don't know how big the church is, but that's got to hit a congregation of any size hard.

Praying for our little doggie friend Clancy the Pommeranian, who had a nearly fatal encounter with a delivery truck...he wound up needing his tail amputated, and is generally black and blue and miserable. Prayers also for his human, a good friend of ours, who's rather fragile emotionally and is having difficulty taking care of his needs -- is simultaneously sad for his pain but impatient with aspects of his recovery. For the best outcomes for all.
