Many apologies if this isn't the right place for me to have put this, or...whatever. I've been putting off posting this full stop, but I suspect that today is the time.
My beloved father - ken, known to so many of you as the Ship's second most prolific poster - is grievously ill. As many of you will know, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December and things have progressed significantly since then.
Over today and yesterday things have deteriorated to the point that I feel quite strongly that if you would like to come, please do come now.[Hospital and room location removed](It may be that I was not supposed to post such specific details; if so and the hosts edit them out, please PM me for them and I will let you know where to find us.)
We're looking at a few short weeks, perhaps mere days. I don't know for sure how things will pan out, and God willing we are soon to move to a hospice. I will of course let people know - perhaps on this thread - the details of that once they are set in stone.
Otherwise, your prayers and thoughts are so very much appreciated. I'm sorry I don't have the right words to do this message justice. Dad has given so much, both here and elsewhere, that telling people about the current state of affairs is almost more difficult than I can bear. [ 19. Thank you so much for telling us, Persephone. I can't imagine what you are going through.

for you and your father.
We had a few spars on some boards, but he very much reminded me of what I call a good old-fashioned evangelical of the school which was so dominant in Sydney as I grew up: liturgy in accordance with the 1662 BCP, dignified if simple vesting. and thoroughly in accord with a valid Anglican tradition. May God be with you at this terrible time.

Words cannot express.
He had hinted that he was ill, but I never expected this.
So glad I made the effort once to attend a London meet, so met Ken, a kind of hero figure for me.
The Ship won't be the same place at all.
Prayers for all the family.

Ken has shown nothing but remarkable determination to fight this dreadful disease. Only a few days ago he was quoting Deuteronomy 30:19-20 at me.
