I hope other posters are inspired by Ann's generous gift. Make a pledge now in honor of your most or least favorite shipmate.

And to all of you who, like myself, have always meant to pledge to the organ fund: Let me tell you, I just feel so darn good now. It was a bit more than I had intended, and it's coming out of what I was going to give my church for the summer school for underpriviledged neighborhood children, but screw 'em, this glow of satisfaction is worth it.

Now...back to the regularly scheduled mud-wrestling.

Well, now that Lyda's spoken up, I think I'm going back to my original bet of Fiddleback.

I'm with you, Ruth and Grits.

Lifeman? He's just mildly annoying; Erin brushes him off like a fly. Aside from his inflated idea of his own comic sensibilities, his odd nonsequitars, and the ability to cling to an irritating point of view interminably, what could possibly make him the King? Lifeman doesn't inspire passionate ire, at least in Erin as far as I can see.

No, it's Fiddleback.

She's wrong about that as well, of course.

That they tend not to respect the ship, or are given to making sweeping judgements about other people, or just don't apologise when when the whole world knows they are wrong? Every occured to you that the only people who moan about the "in-crowd" are the people who simply can't make many/any friends here? OK, an outsider enters the race. Sometime, somewhere, I remember Peronel saying that s\he had it on good authority that Erin hated her guts (or words to that effect). No idea what the context was to that.

So I'm backing Peronel.

[Frown] but I can just see that.

And now for a word from Propeller Heads Inc.:

My Organ Fund donation is better than in the mail because I used the Organ Fund ad link at the top of the page. Has a secure server and everything. (All right, I made it last night, but I hedged my bets by sending the extra $25 anyway.)

I am quite sure, from my own experience tending an e-commerce site, that the credit card co. and the service Simon uses take out a cut, so give a little extra if you use that link. Thank you.

We now return you to the exciting elimination round for the coveted "Mr./Ms. Ship of Fools Asshat 2004" title, in progress.

This is how you win, Twilight:
Make a list of your enemies, then rank them, from weakest to strongest. Go to the weakest. Kill. Then work your way up the list. Do not take them all on at once. It is not efficient. You cannot wage war on many fronts at once. Just one at a time. (This is a public service announcement).

Ah Coot, you really are a nice boy and I appreciate the advice but there are just too many enemies and too little time for that method. Anyway, I don't need to make a list because there's usually a handy "Calling Twilight/Sasha to Hell" thread still on board from which to select. As many have noted, Im not out to kill anyone just take little nips at their ankles. That's not a Rottweiler Avatar.

Rat; Peronel? I can't imagine that. Even if she was in low regard at one time she must have earned back favor by calling me to Hell.

My money is on NonPropheteer. He and I are both from West Virginia and I'm starting to think there's a natural animosity between hill people and swamp creatures.

Mmmmmm, thankyou Lord... <murmured reverently but loud enough for you to know I am an empty vessel in direct touch with the Almighty>

Even now I am laying holy hands on my iMac screen. I can hear the gentle vibrato of a Hammond B3, played by Norman. As I speak I am singing along, with a robed choir, the verse of a hymn dedicated to you all - 'The Bitch Is Back'.

I can reveal that the Lord has laid it on the heart of eight contributors to this thread to donate a total of £270 (approx US$500) to the Organ Fund.

But I am believing for <sudden increase in volume of B3, thanks Norman> A WHOLE LOT MORE...

I believe God wants you to make it £500. I said £500.

Billy Graham asks you to get up out of your seat. I'm not even asking you to do that. Just move your cursor about seven centimetres, heavenwards, click for glory, then say the Hellmates prayer after me...

Lord, I admit I am a tight-fisted bastard (Lord, I admit I am a tight-fisted bastard) and it's probably been several months since I gave any thought (and it's probably been several months since I gave any thought) to how this stays ship afloat financially (to how this stays ship afloat financially).

But I admit that there are very few places (but I admit that there are very few places) where I can learn how to fit (where I can learn how to fit) words like asshole, flying, masturbation and rat fuck into one sentence (words like asshole, flying, masturbation and rat fuck into one sentence).

So here is my miserly donation to the Organ Fund (so here is my miserly donation to the Organ Fund) which bears no relation to the amount of pleasure I derive (which bears no relation to the amount of pleasure I derive) from insulting my fellow shipmates (from insulting my fellow shipmates) with creativity and flair (with creativity and flair). Can I donate Canadian Tire money? Give like Santa, save like Scrooge. Although, it is fun to slip this Canadian currency to overpriced café minions since they typically mistake a 10-cent bill for a Canuckistani 10-dollar bill.

The third form of Canadian currency is empties, for those trivia lovers out there.

I'd bet on Lifeman, but I find myself hoping that it isn't him because that annoying dipshit would enjoy the attention too disgustingly much.

Yes, Lord. I just wanna say, Lord, I know we can make that goal...Lord. And we wanna lift up those shipmates who have pledged during this fund raising drive. Who says you can't buy your way into Heaven?

Think how stressed you feel when you log on and the ship is down for maintenence. And you think you'll have to deal with real life until it's back up again.

What if it. just. wasn't. there? Huh? Scary thought, isn't it?

Anyone who pledges $120.00 (that's just $10.00 a month!) wins a free dinner with Bob Edwards...I mean, Rowan Williams.

Zeke, I see your hand.

You spotted the error - and I knew you would because the Lord wants you to give three grand to this ministry.

Yes, brothers and sisters, It is I, the very one to whom this magnificent organ music is so warmly dedicated, here to shame you into giving.

For I myself, moved by the powerful testimony of Brother Sign have sacrificed a love offering of twenty five U. S. dollars pried from the cobweb coated wallet of Mr. Twilight through promises of unspeakable favors.

Can you count yourself less than I?

Dearest Erin is it really true you don't give a fuck about Christianity?

I mean, I knew you had 'issues' and all but this has come as a shock....

FP

P.S
You know Erin, many mornings I wake up and behold the great beauty of creation, the oneness of nature and contemplate the divine spark deep inside us that revels in the holy joy of our maker...
.. and then I look at the alarm clock and think "why do I give a flying fuck about religion and spend so much valuable sleeping time on web boards like this". Well, I guess I just love an argument.

Yet, I do feel guilty sometimes, cos I don't have to work hard to use SoF but yet its boards are made all bright and new each day, ready to be filled with my drivel. You see I admit that I too am one of nature's parasites feeding off others' good will - sucking the life blood out of their generosity - the milk of human kindness out of people such as Erin who give so much. I, like the other posters am but a leech upon Erin's time and efforts. Yet is she not mere mortal flesh? Prick her and does she not bleed?

No wonder she has burnt herself out with all our moaning and whingeing, and going on and on and on and on about..well the usual stuff.. the sexual preferences of Saul of Tarsus, the length of Noah's beard and the onotologial dilemma posed by the filoque et al, ad nauseum

After all, who else gives a damn anyway?

God bless you Erin

Sistah Twilight has just won The Complete Works of the Rev. Gerald Ambulance.

Note: If these books have their covers removed they may have been reported to the publisher as "unsold".

Amid much domestic financial discussion, my donation has been made. Unfortunately I won't be meeting the celebrated and superannuated pontifex maximus for elevenses, but I expect soon to receive the neat coffee mug. Question: for 25.00USD, do you also get the handsome plastic ballpoint pen, the Ship's logo proudly emblazoned thereupon, or is that reserved for donors at the next giving level?
