Well, he was on the list anyway.

Hey, we have a whole thread on questions like this in T & T... but yes, I have specifically heard this (albeit more spelled out) from some other gay guys. "Someone called me a mother-%&*$%#. I corrected him and said he meant a father-&*$%#..."
Mind you, this was an extremely annoying fellow gay male person.
Oh my God, two more pages to wade through. Going to take a break...

I think it is time for a pledge break. Ancient Mariner, are we on track for meeting today's pledge goals at Ship of Fools?
Just like SN, I've upped my pledge. Up yours, too.
(Folks, my love for Public Radio in the US goes back to the mid-1970s, when I was a student assistant at "Public Radio for South-Central Missouri, KUMR-Rolla, at 88.5 FM. It is now 1 minute past 10 o'clock; time for our late evening summry of the news...." You don't know my pride when the PRI program Market Place originated from there for a whole week, acknowledging that the 2000 census of the US placed the population center just a bit south of Rolla on US-63.)

Oh, come now, there's a big Sin Quotient difference between doing Sine and doing a sheep.
Actually, with the current climate around here, I was exceptionally confused by Erin's quote until I realized that she was using "hung" to mean execution by strangulation.
On another note, I was indeed stunned that anyone could think that Grits would slur an obviously Catholic name like "Vincent." That has surely broken any kind of record I may have set and I thank JohnBoot for doing so.
What angered me in JohnBoot's recent posts was his co-opting of Bob Jones University as his favorite "bastion of Protestant bigotry." We all know that Bob Jones University is a "bastion of racist bigotry" and all of us bigoted anti-Bob Jones bigots will not stand idly by while other bigoted anti-bigots steal our bigots from our own winnowing fork of anti-bigotry. Not without a fight at least.
But since JohnBoot does have a favorite bastion of Protestant bigotry I do wonder what is his favorite bastion of Catholic bigotry is?
And these women who lust for NP...have I not heard all of you complain at one time or another about the men in your lives? Is it any wonder?
But alas I've developed a soft spot for the unhouseborken little pup myself. Nonetheless, advertising his ability to find an issue that will light one of Mousethief's shorter fuses is like Teddy Roosevelt stuffing a squirrel and mounting it over the mantle is his den. Surely NP can find more elusive quarries to demonstrate his peerless status as Satan's own agent provocateur.
And Spawn my son my son. The best thing that ever happened to me was coming to terms with Erin's unchecked, uninhibited, and unassailable authority, which she grinds into the noses of those who make demands on her time over personal scrapes and scuffles. You are confusing the criminal authority of the playground bully with the legitimate authority of the harsh Mother Superior who really wishes to squeeze and hug the little urchins whose ears she is twisting because they make her life a living Hell.

Hey, this is Hell, I'm coming over all gooey and using unacceptably heart-warming vocabulary.
With this pledge break, we are starting to turn the tone from Public Radio ("But you can't do that to Bob Edwards!") to one of our two public TV stations where I live ( sums it up perfectly). This TV station used to be riding high (anyone remember Bill Nye, the Science Guy?), but is now very close to bankrupcy. Give 'em a buck, and they'll wash your feet in their tears.
Fortunately, SOF hasn't stooped that low. Yet. I hope.
Keep the Ancient Mariner from making an arse out of himself. Pledge to the Organ Fund at whatever level you can afford. Every pledge to SOF is appreciated. Click the link at the top of the page, now. Everyone at Ship of Fools thanks you for your support. Remember, that number is....
(I bet the shipmates from UK, NZ, OZ are wondering WTF this is all about. On the other hand, I suspect many of the Canuckistanis are within reach of a US public radio or television station, so they know all too well. I know the two radio stations in Seattle are constantly thanking listeners in BC for their support during pledge breaks.)

I missed Joanne, she was before my time. But from what's been said about her, she was a very disruptive individual who pissed everyone off but was gone very quickly - though she left an enduring legacy in how these boards are run. Spawn you can blame her for putting Erin in charge.
To satisfy the criteria for the sort of person Erin was refering to longevity on the boards would, I'd say, be one of the significant criteria. The flash-in-the-pan idiot trolls who post for a few days making such a nuisance of themselves that they get banned and everyone cheers are arseholes of the highest order. But, it takes long-term ongoing sailing close to the wind and only occasionally crossing the line building up a reputation of fuck-wittedness without actually becoming bannable who are the most likely to be on Erin's list of least favourite posters.

Spawn, as Erin said last night, you've been a great friend to the ship. One post on page one, and now, ten pages later, over six hundred pounds have been raised.
Bless you.
(I sent Madam Etheredge an extra check today in your honor. Whether it will be returned uncashed, I've no idea. But I doubt it.)
