Although their political views were very different from mine, I admired Messrs. Benn and Crow for sticking to their principles and fighting for what they believed to be right - an example we could all follow.
RIP.

So far this year the angel of death has struck our lists six times. Ariel Sharon, Chris Chattaway, Claudio Abbado, Pete Seeger, Shirley Temple Black and Tony Benn will be ineligible for next year's game.
Eight contestants have scored once each so the Quantity Not Quality award is currently shared. Claudio Abbado was furthest away from getting a telegram from the queen so Light User is leading the main competition. The first celebrity to disturb the obituary writers was Ariel Sharon so Caissa gets the Inside Track with the Grim Reaper award.

I was just about to post the same thing, SC. I always enjoyed Two Fat Ladies- great, no-nonsense, slightly tongue-in-cheek stuff.
CDW was one of my (very few) "celebrity sightings" - I saw her at Edinburgh Airport once while en route somewhere.
RIP.

British actor Malcolm Tierney has died - Charlie Gimbert from Lovejoy will be ducking and diving in Heaven.
My late father-in-law's auction-house in Colchester was the setting for Gimbert's in the Lovejoy books, but I hasten to add that he was nothing like Gimbert!
RIP Mr. Tierney

Fred Phelps just earned 16 points for several people.
I pray that he now knows we have a loving Father -- who loves EVERYONE.

He's only one point, but Indian writer Khushwant Singh died last week at the age of 99. I was lucky enough to meet him in Delhi a few years ago- a charming man with a wicked sense of humour, and in no way politically correct.

I am sitting here trying to think what my favorite role of his was. For years, he was the face of the FBI. And he was brilliant as suave con man Daniel Chalmers in Remington Steele.

Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul, director of the Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, was found dead, only 36 years old. The police have concluded that no crime was involved but are reluctant to reveal more information concerning where he was found. Massive loss for Swedish film, and for documentary film as a genre internationally.
