He has been the only person recently that my immediate, second and third thoughts have been "Oh no", not "That would have been 31 points."

He was brilliant in real life too. There was a time, a long time ago, which will date me horribly, when the News Quiz was taken out to London University Colleges to be broadcast and they came our way a few times. Some of the team and production crew used to hit the Union Bar afterwards. Alan Coren was one who came for a drink and had a crowd hanging round him because he was so brilliant to chat to.

His legacy - the Samaritans and other help lines, not to mention an acceptance that people hurt - will live on.

Charmin put on a eulogy of sorts -- a commercial featuring snippets from older commercials of his. I thought it was a lovely gesture. He's become a part of folklore along with Clara Peller (the "Where's the beef?" lady), the various actresses who played the "I've fallen and I can't get up" lady, and so many others.

The winner of the Inside Track with The Grim Reaper prize was ferijen, who had a choice drop off in early January.

Uriel won by a street, and also had four correct picks to win the Quantity not Quality award.

The full list of points is here:

http://bpm.freeshell.org/deathpool.html

This year's scorecard will go up after I'm back from my walk.

Thanks for the scoresheet Basso. It has confirmed my view that they key to this game is to search for celebrities, even minor ones, with serious cancer - they are the ones most likely to go. If you pick people you don't like they won't die. If you pick people who are old you are picking those who have a skill for not dieing. It's not pleasant, but to get points your best bet will always be the seriously ill.

My 2008 team won't win, although I may come bottom, and could get some of the minor prizes!

I'll add this victory to my two previous SoF Fantasy Football titles!

Cheers,

Uriel.
